track incoming mail to the uk

Post by plant1 »

Hi,

I understand that when a registered mail arrived to the uk it's getting a new tracking number. is that true?
is it possible to get that new tracking number to be able to track it?

I sent to the uk a small parcel, will it be processed by the royal mail or parcelforce?

Thank you.

I believe sometimes it does, though might be worth waiting till one of the Mail Centre workers confirms this. If I am right, it depends on what the agreement is with the original country.

Not sure but it might be worth checking with your own postal company.

As far as I know, it just gets a Heathrow Airport arrival scan and delivery scan (if you're lucky!).

Try their Twitter, that seems to be the best and fastest method of contact.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

if the tracking number follws the international format
2 letters,9 numbers and then 2 country code letters
then theres no real need to change the number
however some countries don't follow this and need a new number to work on RMs sytems

The package arrived to the destination, according to the recipient.
The tracking number is 2 letters , 9 numbers and 2 country code letters, and still no info on the royal mail website.
now i see that it says on their website that mail from overseas cannot be tracked using the royal mail website.
http://track2.royalmail.com/portal/rm/j ... d=15400385" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I also sent this parcel with a Delivery Confirmation, but i don't even know if the recipient had to sign to get the package.

so basically, there is no way to track incoming mail to the UK? (unless maybe it's EMS?)

Thank you.

AFAIK you'd have to use the tracking system for the country it's from i.e. if it came from France, then France's postal system would have a tracking system for their items ending in FR and they would be tracked through their own website, just as you would track items ending in GB through RM's website.

When i track it with the tracking system for the country i sent it from, it's only track it unti it leaves the country.
after that there is no tracking. the following tracking should be at the destination tracking system website.

When someone is sending me registered mail, after it arrive to my country i can start to follow it using my local post office tracking system.
