Debt collectors on workers:Angard letter asking for money?

Post by mail_watcher »

Been sent a letter saying I actually owe Angard money, when actually they owe me over twice as much. Except that exactly at that moment they got confused about who they really are and asked me to send a cheque payable to Royal Mail. Of course, my hours are quoted entirely wrongly on the letter.

Look how everything they could do wrong, they did get wrong:
I started work before their security clearance came through on the next day.
They confirmed me verbally again after I'd already been working three days.
They then sent me a separate email confirmation for a still later date after I'd been working for over a week.
They didn't pay me by normal payroll but instead a voucher as if they didn't even know what was going on.
They then paid me some more money with an incomprehensible unitemised payslip.
They then paid me 1 penny on the next meaningless payslip.
They then send me a more itemised payroll statement, which doesn't have all my days on, doesn't include most of my overtime and they figure I owe them money.

I can afford to smile about this because I had the foresight to take mobile phone pictures of the timesheets. My name wasn't printed on them for 7 working days and I had to write it in.

They were 18,000 casuals apparently ... if they all should have been paid an average of £1000 then even if they only delay payment by a couple of months without simply cheating people out of their money, then the interest on that money they're earning is enough to buy a house. Who's creaming the money off?

POSTMAN EDIT:Baring in mind Angard have no idea what they are doing...

You have to put the ball back in their court by asking for hard evidence to back up their claims of money owed.
If you just blank them all they will do is pass the debt over to a debt recovery agency and they will not have any interest in what you earned or didn't earn or how unfairly you were treated just the debt that is on the sheet in front of them.
You have to resolve the situation before a DRA becomes involved otherwise it's a world of pain getting that monkey off your back.

To me they have not, the letter simply states I owe angard £183.28 and I should send a cheque to the following address with my payroll number on the back.

Worked at Carlisle for 6 days then got another job. 37.5 @ 6.08 and 6 hrs @ 7'.58 on a Sunday.
Got a £350 voucher then £175 payslip which was wrong a week later.
They now want more back than I owe them AND I haven't received any holiday pay

I'll pay some back but not the full amount. Absolute joke

My breakdown misses the week-ending 23/12/11 altogether. That was the busiest week!

Do they really think I wasn't needed in the week before Christmas? Total idiots.

You could write a cheque for a penny.....

Then send another next week for a penny.....

Only problem with that is that a stamp costs 46p mate, you would think it would be FREEPOST!!

What would happen if I had spent the money on a holiday, xmas whatever? (not that I have). And if you think I'm going to ring an expensive 0845 number they've got another thing coming.

They should let us off with a £100 for all the hassle we've had but I dont see that happening, do you?

You are lucky you've been paid compared to the other poor gits on here.
So you worked for a week and earnt about £275 before Tax/NI so you've been well overpaid. How much are they asking for back?
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Also received payslip this morning .. 2 days missing (1st& 2nd Dec)
pay rate w/e 9th Dec (nights) incorrect
pay w/e 16th Dec incorrect

pay received by POL voucher shows £259.60 .. I have never set eyes on this voucher

balance owed by me, to be paid by cheque to Royal Mail, is £100.

I'm laughing at it but it is hysterical laughter

phoned Angard straight away but only got the stonewall call takers (I'm starting to have pity on them)
