am i unique here ?????

I started work at the Poole mail centre on the 2nd December just as all this pay business kicked off. The reason i ask "am i unique" is because i have been paid for all the hours i have worked. My only problem was that they always paid me at the wrong rate. On reciept of my payslip although very slow to arrive i have called Anguards pay query no and explained the problem to them and hey presto the difference was made up the following week. I have had no problems with them at all. However saying that i worked with a lot of people that were having a hell of a time getting angaurd to see that an error was being made each and every time we were paid. After looking a bit closer into the wage prob it turned out that we at the Poole centre were being paid £8.11 an hour for a night shift and £10.21 on sundays which i believe is very different to other centres.

Luckily for me it has all turned out fine and im still working nights at the Poole mail centre.

Is there any body else on this forum that has had no real problems with Anguard

If anyone didn't have problems with Angard they have now!!!! £8.11ph What were you handling at Poole? Nuclear waste?

If there was a regional pay differential £1.53 is a big difference. We are due an explanation for this one as well.

6.58 for nightshift in gateshead? Poole is not london weighting area so why is the pay varying that drastically regionally? How do they pick who gets paid what amount? All doing the same job are we not? What was the pay in scotland? Xx

Each region/mail centre had its own pay rates. You need to check the Royal Mail website and your application. Go to the RM website log in to your application area then click on the details of the work you were offered and it should say what pay rates you should have been on.

The Christmas period is naturally a very busy time of year for Royal Mail.
To help us handle the increased volumes of mail we require casual workers to sort mail in our mail centres, and some to deliver the mail to addresses throughout the UK.
These are important tasks in ensuring all those Christmas cards and presents get delivered to the right address!

In the mail processing centres, the role involves:

•Sorting items by hand into compartments on a sorting frame
•Bagging and labelling mail for its destination
•Moving mail around between conveyor belts, loading docks and trolleys
•Moving mailbags from cages, sorting mailbags and bundles of mail into cages
•Loading and unloading wheeled containers from vehicles to the dispatch areas
We also need some people to deliver the mail to addresses in the UK, you will have the choice during your application to express a preference of processing, delivery or both.

There are a few posted there and they all tend to vary for the premium times (nights, Sunday etc).

I have worked since November 2010 and been in the same position as you. We got our rates put up for the Christmas period 2011 to match the Christmas casuals. Similar problem happened with the long term casuals for Christmas 2010 - they were on 5.95 the Christmas casuals came in at 6.25. This only got changed after a letter by one of the long term casuals to Moya Greene in 2010 and after a threatenend walk out by long term casuals.

The differential rates were the result of supply and demand. They found it more difficult to get staff in the South West where there is less unemployment and therefore they had to offer more than in the industrial areas. Exeter never reached the staffing levels that they were looking for. At one point there were four of us doing identical work and each on a different rate of pay (permanent, long term casual, angard Christmas and Manpower Christmas). it was one of the reasons that I left.

The affluent South East are often getting less PH than the South West with its many unemployment black spots. It could be more to do with demographics ie loads of 'oldies' who won't work nights. I found Poole and Bournemouth oversubscribed for days but they were taking on weekend night temps at DMC (where I worked overtime for three weekend nights via Angard)from a local Agency (CIty Centre?) on a day to day basis. Still Iv'e only been paid £6.58 for nights in Bournemouth despite querying it

all angard staffing casuals (within 12 weeks constant employment) are paid the same.. and in the same way...this has been debated for month's on this forum.. so stop with the f***ing windups m8,,, the guy's on here that havent been paid or havent been paid the correct money thats due to them dont need this kinda s**t.... FFS 2 posts since it all kicked off 2 months ago.
