What you really mean is members can be bought with the short term carrot of a bonus because they seldom look at the long term consequences.
That's an ideal scenario if you're management but as an aspiration from a union it's pretty pathetic.
Take the lapsing agreement...do you think when the members accepted the £400 they knew the grief that was coming their way?
If,like you say RM are suddenly in a stronger position after State Aid then why doesn't the union simply push to have the colleagueshare money paid out then or is the real truth that we will have some more poison to accept by then and the union wants to make sure it has some bribes in the bank to sweeten the taste.
This is as much about the union negotiating position as it is about Royal Mail's financial position.
It is certainly not about the membership's position...they are simply an afterthought. :cuppa

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

What is concerning me at the moment is that the CWU as a whole recently seems to be telling the membership what it wants, not asking.

Seems diametrically opposed to what I thought was one of the reasons for a Union.

It seems to me that people are actually cottoning on to the fact, at last, that the CWUs aspirations and those of the membership aren't the same. Yes the membership have voted for these agreements but at the behest of the CWU, who do a really good job of brokering crap deals on behalf of Royal Mail - after all who could forget "the deal of the century" - perhaps not such a misnomer because it is probably going to take a century of chatter to sort it out.
With the pay cuts advocated by the union because of the financial straits RM find themselves in are the union finally going to negotiate a decent pay rise when their financial position improves?

Sometimes change is what is needed. If the CWU shaft members, why pay for it?

So am I

But when they want more work than I am capable off, or refuse to pay me overtime if its genuinely required, or they fail to give me the tools I need, or fail to stick to my contract with them, or attempt to reduce, revoke or ignore my employment or human rights I hope you don't mind if I do complain.

However letter states thats when my employment is likely to end and i wont be required bythe business bythen. Didnt realise how much s**t company was in to have to hire folk for small periods of time to get back on there feet and cast us off.

Also royal mail should do away with seniority as u have knackers of 30 years getting preference for jobs although alot of them are useless and dont do anything for the company.

The whole set up of this company is poor. Ive seen alot of changes since i have come back

Rant over

Yes..we,the members did...through our sacrifice, hard work and solidarity.
Nothing came for free...it always came at a price and the members have always been prepared to pay that price.
Now management have reneged on their side of the deal are we expected to give again?

Fishtank so want the union to get colleague share money back on the table if state aid is granted.

Is this the same colleague share which was agreed between Leighton and the Labour Government without any agreement with the CWU. Colleague share was based on the value of the company and whilst the first few payments were paid , the reality of the situation was with the pension deficit the company could always be valued differently.

I remember a number of posters were quick to criticse the union for using the colleague share money to be used for lump sum payments linked to the revisions as some of you said the money was the staffs anyway. Well in one fiar swoop Royal Mail valued the company differently and used the pension deficit to say that the value of the company had nose dived.

So the union is talking about incentives. However if you ask me what I would prefer well it would be permanent money in wages rather than lump sums.

They have talked about increasing the Christmas bonus , there are no strings nowadays linked to thatn, they have talked about other ways of find ways to improve members conditions but nothing will happen this side of the state aid decision. Equally in parcel force and POL they have some employee fringe benefits which should be extended to Royal Mail employees.

So as public enemy number 1 , I have always opposed lump sum payments but they keep getting agreed.

No i personally couldn't care less about the colleagueshare money.
To me it was always a point of principle.
If there is money or will be money for incentives then we should not be entertaining that principle while the colleague share incentive scheme remains unfulfilled.
It's a matter of trust.

So RM have talked about increasing the Christmas bonus.... For what price ?
Lump sum payments are agreed by HQ 1st then members are asked to endorse.
CS was a con in BT 2010 and RM are pissing themselves laughing
