Newbies have always been treated badly in this job...even more so now that many of them are on fixed term contracts.
It's not always as simple as a part-time/full-time issue is all i'm saying.
I will now back away nervously from this thread...
Sorry if I offended you, that was not my intention.......twobags wrote:resentment and dislike are two different things i never said dislike , and we arnt all equal thats a silly statement the high turn over of staff are p/t and p/t are on the recieving end of bullying more i witness it every day to ignore that is to play into r/m hands so i hope you dont mind if i take offence to your commentsCheetah wrote:twobags wrote:theres nothing new being said on this thread that has not been said on 1000s of others with no acheiveable solution , its so frustrating . when i joined royal mail all the talk was of team work and in the past 5 years ive witnessed none , sadly its mainly been everyone for them selves, fault lies firstly equally with management and the union then full timers resentment of part timers and part timers having no support from any one ,as a part timer in the time ive worked as a postie ive never felt supported or looked after by the union. as for the management THEY ARE THE WORST IVE EVER WORKED WITH truly out dated , i love the job once i get out the office and away from the politics , , i do the job as i should ,i dont cut any corners i use the tools given and all for the customer. yes there are part timers that cut corners but so are there full timers that do, the job in the 5 years ive been doing it has gotten harder and with nothing to contradict that will continue to, as for the running thats a personal choice in any job in any sector speed and intensity will vary as long as it doesnt affect the service to the customer , there will always be both fast and slow people that do the same job as long as at either end the targets and requirements are reasonable and achievable i used to think that when you finish go back to the office to finish to your time but not with the new hours we do and there isnt enough work for us all to do anyway , stop blaming the part timers the problems are deeper rooted than them
Sorry don't know where you are coming from..... I honestly don't know of any full timers who dislike part timers what a silly statement.....
We are all equal, if anything I personally feel sorry for part timers as they have no prospect of getting a full time wage nowadays off RM....
Your statement is unhelpfull and plays into RM's hands divide and conquer, lets all stick together and help each other not fall out amongst ourselves.....

Do you work in our officeWHITEANT wrote:Lets get this thread back on track , managers turning a blind eye to posties coming in early, going round the deliverys without seatbelts, not taking breaks ,breaking all the security rules , not doing van maintanance i could go on forever .Yet a postman who does his job properly makes a wee mistake and hey presto the manager is on him like a leach .Boys who belt round delivery finish about 2hrs early but dont sign off ,then in teamtalks say u must sign in and out , when we highlight the fact its the boys who finish 2hr early thats not sighning off they turn a blind eye and deaf ear .Another thing they turn a blind eye to is ,u might have a postie who cackles and cackles when hes supposed to be prepping ,goes out later than he should do, then flys round delivery nothing is said .Yet a postie prepping in the right manner ,goes out does the delivery in right manner is pulled saying he is slow at prepping![]()

Problem is no matter how hard they work it still ends up with the old Seniority nutshell. Some lazy t~~ts still stay ahead in the pecking order!TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Now I am going to show my political bias here but WTF do people blame FT or PT for the crap at Royal Mail.
There is only 1 divide in RM and thats between the managers and workers. Everything else is crap designed by managers to deflect anger from them, and to cause distrust and friction between colleagues.
I don't give a hoot whether the woman or man on the next frame to me is Full Time, Part Time, Driver, Bag Carrier, Locker staff, book room, callers office or even DOM support as long as they work hard and support their colleagues - everything else is chaff. The measure of a person is not based on the contract they have, or the hours they work or what job they do , but their own character and values.
