So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Looking at your number of posts you are obviously a very experienced postman......

So why would you damage your health working 5,6,or even 7 hours when your agreed contract is 4 1/2 hours let alone without a break :d'oh! :d'oh!

Come on guys with all due respect it's time to stand up and be counted. I'm not encouraging anyone to work slowly here, No,...... work at a reasonable pace but for gods sake look after your health, you realy don't have to put up with this it's 2011 not 1900 in a bl..dy workhouse

If you've had your revision then you should NOT be carrying bags, either P&L or HCTs.
Stop making things easy for RM and follow their agreements.

I don't carry my bags to the boxes. My buddy, the driver do them, he's Park and Loop. I am in his so team and in his van. He just dropped me to my first point letter. Then i whooosh to the finish point. :)

I do have a break before i left DO, Not that i need a break. Had to wait for buddy to be ready anyway.. or i can just take the early bus easy since i have my own buss pass which is not a pain in ass. ;)

I refuse to take a break outside, staring up at the blue sky is no fun :D! My areas's quiet area. No cafe or flats nearby at all. I take my break at the end of walk anyway..

Yeah The Flask of tea seems to be a good idea.. :D

My contract is eight hours a day and I never noticed anything in it about 4½ hour delivery.
My average day might approximately be 2½ hours sorting, ½ hour break and 5 hour delivery, and I don't have a problem with that.
Yes, it's a longer duty than most walks but I wouldn't have spent just a few months part time if I had only applied for the easiest full time vacancies. :Very Happy
And I'm not convinced that number of posts on here is proportionate to experience as a postman.

But on an 8 hour day you are entitled to 40 minutes paid break!

If that means your walk is unrealistic to complete having taken your break entitlement, that is not your problem, you either chose to get extended delivery overtime (and if you go past 9 hours you get another 10 minute m/r) authorised or you follow cut-off procedure to finish at your contract time...

Same applies for if you need to use the assigned tools for the walk: Don't carry a pouch if you are on park and loop (although I'm not clued up on this one, might be times when it is correct to carry the LCT bags); don't carry overweight bags and do more trips to the bag drop if necessary; don't lock up a HCT to do a loop by pouch that exceeds the risk accessment of your round etc.

Follow the rules that have been agreed between the union and RM and use them to your advantage i.e. do not "fudge" a walk to make it appear to work for your contract hours.

Probably the planning team.
Have you any idea how difficult it is to get two people back to the van at the same time.....when you have to factor in different walking speeds, attendance calls, stopping to give directions etc etc?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

To survive xmas pressure you can forget the whoosh part. :Very Happy

It sounds like you may be getting stitched up :hmmmm The idea of park and loop is that you work with a partner from the van and only carrying small "loops" before you move off again.

It sounds your working the older way like me where you simply are out for the whole delivery with a support driver dropping off bags and overweight packets :hmmmm

You need to allow for the weather to turn nasty again as the last 2 years have been poor. The way to get through is to slow down to an easier pace so no more half running. You really should find somewhere to take at least a 30 min break or at least take out some form of food which you can eat on the way round to keep your energy up.

Myself, i will only be working my normal paid hours this year and will be letting someone else grab the extra overtime. :dance
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Yes, I am "entitled to 40 minutes paid break" which is near enough what I said with "My average day might approximately be 2½ hours sorting, ½ hour break and 5 hour delivery", 40 minutes 'approximately' being '½ hour' if my working day is broken down into half hours.
Sometimes my break is more than a ½ hour or 40 minutes, sometimes it's less, but overall it averages out at about that.
Some days I finish before my time, other days I work over it, but if I'm much over I claim for it as obviously is my right, and I do of course have the option of cutting off although I rarely do.
I don't go in early, don't use a car and don't otherwise cut corners.
It was my choice to go for such a walk and having done so I'm not spending years moaning at still being part time after declining this walk because it's on the roughest estate intown, that walk because it's got the most houses or the other walk because it's out at an SPDO staffed by a few inbred weirdos. :Very Happy

Should be using the proper delivery methods.
Should be taking a break before leaving the office.
Shouldn't be running around like an idiot.
