Strange things happening in Kent

Post by MatthewKent »

Hello everyone, I'm new to all this. I have been waiting for 6 parcels sent on the 5th and 6th of September, 2 of them being recorded and the others all have proof of sending, none of them have arrived, but all my other parcels before and after this have been coming bang on time. I have tried contacting Royal Mail but the staff seem stressed and say that there's no way of knowing where my parcels are. It seems very bizarre, also, I never see Royal Mail vans delivering up my road anymore. Plus our poor postman has got one of them high capacity trolleys, so I am assuming they have replaced the van with his legs. I think it's all terrible, is this 'modernisation' just cutting corners and making the hard workers work even harder? I say cut a few of the high earning ones, or make them do a round a month.

Does anyone think this Watford thing is anything to do with the hold up? I don't know where it comes from before Maidstone Sorting Office.

The picture attached was print screened today (15/09).

Matt (Maidstone, Kent)

PS, Much respect for our postie, spot on as always.

quick answer is... it's up to the senders to prove delivery, if it hasn't arrived under the DSR you are entitled to a refund or replacement.

I know that's not rectifying the problem but you maybe better speaking to the delivery office manager with regards to this, sounds like the changes have already happened in your delivery office, most of these changes have brought problems for the postie out on the street, a quick search of these forums will tell you that. Not a good day for RM the amount of things that are missing/delayed.

Hi Matt
I'm sorry you've had to endure the shoddy service you are receiving at the moment. Unfortunately there is nothing that us lowly posties can do to change those above us minds. They just won't admit they've cut more than down to the bone, in your area it is down to the marrow. Your area has undergone the new P & L system and things are dire, the posties duties are far too big to be completed in the time span given. Posties have been told not to engage in any conversation with the public concerning this new service and it has been known that people have been taken into the office and reprimanded for speaking the truth to their customers. I suggest you try and contact your local delivery office and/or contact your local press.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Hello, thanks for your replies. That is quite upsetting about the posties being reprimanded. Come rain wind and snow, my post always arrives eventually, never too late considering the conditions like. If I did contact the delivery office they will only fob me off and put more pressure on the posties though won't they? The money they save with cut backs they are going to end up paying back out in compensation probably.

Also, as a postie yourself, can you tell me, do you get clothing for horrible weather? I ask because all the areas in Kent that I have lived in, all the Postmen and women have is a light blue shirt, and sometimes a darker blue jacket. That's not right surely?

Thank you for your replies. I am very happy to say that my postman delivered ALL outstanding mail today in a big sack with some help from an anonymous person who is a true diamond. And it was also nice to see our postman use the van! Hope he got home a bit earlier today. Utmost respect to everyone who replied, but most of all the two that went out of their way to get my parcels to me. Fantastic work!
