1 question muzzy, who pays for the phone and the internet connection to do this? Or even the text messages?

That would be...paying for it yourself..and then asking for it back?muzzy wrote:You'd get a refund in your wages for your data useage

Thats how lots of businesses operate, they reimburse you for your costs, like fuel for example
Not sure why that would be hard to handle

AFAIK there is nothing within RM procedures to do that - also with the problems of getting OT paid for some members, cant really see it happening.muzzy wrote:You'd get a refund in your wages for your data useage
BTW I do follow RMG on twitter and can see the benefits there - the biggest drawback in your idea is not operational but Customer Perception and relations. Imagine someone tweeting their postie and not getting a reply, so they carry on tweeting, eventually getting pissed off and making a complaint.
I am on an average walk of 600+ residential/businesses - if only 10% used twitter thats a possible 60 people you have to follow and respond to. Difficult when your main focus is delivering. Your original point of telling them when your leaving and how heavy is it, well those that are interested, when you are on regular walk don't need twitter, they tell/ask you anyway.
Keep thinking out of the box though muzzy.

Through years of experience with RM we have learned that the best and only way to deal with out of pocket expenses is to keep them in your pocket.muzzy wrote:Thats how lots of businesses operate, they reimburse you for your costs, like fuel for example

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I think RM will say if you can send tweets before and and time to read and retweet during your round then your duty isn`t big enough
