managers doing postmans work

Post by sirrel1862 »

Here at Nottingham 90% managers doing postmans work under the nose of our union. When challenged nothing even saying weve done a deal with the union. Our many more weak and scared union staff are they or his it only at nottingham that they are weak, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

If our LSM stops and either me or my colleague are NOT at the Feeding end (normally we are breaking the boxes down on it - since we've been reduced to 2 per LSM now), 9 times out of 10, one of the manager's will leap on the machine and start feeding it...

Again, this has been OK'd by the Union.... :Applause
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

Have we traveled back to the 80s again and are we miners. :left: :left:

AFAIK you can join any Union that will accept you based on their rules, however RM do not have to recognise them until a certain threshold is passed and a democratic vote is taken unless of course it gets recognised as fast as the UDM did.

You could be a dual card holder and join the IWW, but whilst their motives are laudable the commitment required to become a member is a lot higher than the CWUs, and would they have the knolwedge and experience to help in day to day matters.

Also if you join another union, without RM recognition, they can do nothing at all to help you and your colleagues persuade RM to follow agreements. The only way you can get rid of poor reps is to get someone to stand against them, but as evidenced by the BT2010 vote, apathy seems to rule and whilst many complain, very few are willing to step forward. The Union is only as strong as its members and if they are unwilling to to make changes then nothing will change.

@ trueblueterrier
at my office someone did stand against reps doing jack and he was squeezed out as he stood up for workers rights and wasent being a yes man.

On the note of managers working machines.
1 I always see it in fact shocked when i dont, also seen them run LSMs on there own (are you supposed to have two to a machine?)
2 other night there were four managers running a machine inclufding shift manager, anything done? yeah alright

RM may as well make all managers into "Team Leaders", it would save them a load of money

i think we have team leaders at my place. From what i can gather they stop the line managers from working by interfering. step into an area, cock it up then move to another area and same again.

Still not sure hpw they can get team leaders to work

happens here aswell, not enough staff to do the work so its common place to see acting managers running segs, pushing mail from a-b,0r operating an imp through breaktimes.. yet i hear another 24 have got to go across 3 shifts :arrrghhh ..i was told that they are allowed to help only if there is a chance of a failure, which covers them because there is always a chance of a failure from where i am looking, the union seem to protest but they are never taken any notice of.
