I sent a package to the Netherlands using the First class recorded postage 3 weeks ago and it never arrived.
On looking at the claims process, I need the receipt the post office gave me, but I have lost it.
Is there any way I can go back to the post office I used and get a duplicate receipt, as it is all done on computers there must be an entry for my package.
I have the delivery address and the date I posted it, so is it possible to get a duplicate receipt.

How did you pay for the transaction? May be easier to trace if you used a credit or debit card, can't see them being able to trace it easily tho. That's why you are given a receipt, it's not just a receipt of payment but includes the tracking info for the package. Sorry, but more care should have been used on your part.

mazza111, have you never lost a receipt ?.
I paid in cash, so no way there.
As it was an international parcel I would have thought there was a way of getting a duplicate receipt.

Of course I have, but wouldn't expect RM to be able to do anything about it. Anything I get sent RD/SD gets computerised immediately. I'm not having a go at you, we've all done it, but don't think there would be anything RM could do about it.

I doubt you'll be able to claim anything as there is no way of knowing if the item was lost before or after it left the country. Not that it will matter as you've lost the proof of postage anyway. I don't suppose you can recall the tracking number?

Re: Claim against postal service.
I take it you mean International Signed For item not 1st class recorded. If it was sent as a 1st class recorded to the Netherlands this may explain why it has not arrived as the recorded service is only for UK internal items. Post office counters may be able to trace your item number if you can give them the exact details of the time you posted the item with them.I sent a package to the Netherlands using the First class recorded postage 3 weeks ago and it never arrived.

Did you address it clearly and correctly and did you put your return address on the item ?
