But most members abide by ballot decisions whether they voted or not.
If...and it's a big if you believe Royal Mail's figures then over 300 VR's are already being progressed.
Most of those will be long service union members and although none of them would vote against the union...i'm not sure many of them would vote for strike action....if they are looking to get out.

If 300 are being progressed and there is no doubt that there will be a take up on VRs even at this stage, once the figure for those who do not wish VR and do not want to move, even within the confines of the 15 mile radius, then what would be the CR figure I wonder?

I live in the North where the immediate work is not great enough to sustain the 100,000 population and many thousands commute more than 20 miles each way to work and many more greater and lesser distances. I personally find it ludicrous that you would expect a company to sustain continued losses, if that is the case, to keep jobs local.

I'm sick of people saying this is a London thing. I just got back from Conference in Bournemouth, and there was a motion passed UNANIMOUSLY in support of industrial actions (both official and unofficial) because of these mandatory redundancies. I can't go into details, as the debate was "in camera", but the support from every corner of the country was overwhelming. This is not an attack on London MC's, but on the CWU as a whole. Whether you liked it or not (I didn't..), we gave up so much in the last agreement in the interests of job security, and on the promise of zero mandatory redundancies. Now RM is backtracking on both the letter and the spirit of the agreement. THIS is the time to fight. Do NOT think this doesn't affect you. If they are able to get away with this in London, then YOUR JOB is next.

This is NOT about London jobs. This is about YOUR job. It's time to make a stand and not let the f***ers walk all over us.

And I am NOT from London. I completely agree with alot of the complaints last time London asked us to walk on "their" issues, but this is fundamentally different. Even if it was only ONE job loss, some lowly ROMEC cleaner up in Orkney, it would be one job loss TOO MANY.

I think we're in for an interesting ride...

All the offices achieved a massive yes vote. Well done to the members who have voted yes dispite the bullying of Royal Mail
Its people like you that have been in the job 5 mins that know nothing and , you wont get nothing out of this except good people will lose their jobs listening to rubbish that you have printed. You dont even understand what trade unionism means.

Your obviously not very up on this at all, go to the library and do some reading mate.

Now that is a funny post - not the target of your abuse but the fact that your post ignores all his other previous posts and the position he holds within the Union. BTW read my Moderator post in reply to one of yours, you are treading on thin ice.

I'm sick of hearing "zero mandatory redundancies" - it wasn't and it isn't................it has always been part of the agreement like it or lump it the wording was AVOID and NOT zero.............the case would be stronger if it had been zero. As for overwhelming support at conference :Very Happy it's like turkeys voting to suspend christmas.

It's going to take some persuading of the ordinary members who do NOT see these actions by Royal Mail as a threat to them, rightly or wrongly.

It is frustrating that issues like the above cant be put to bed dvbuk55,it dosnt do the union leadership any favours that
they cant even admit to themselves that at the very least they got the wording of the agreement wrong, otherwise
why all the confusion?

Turkeys voting to suspend xmas? you may be right but if i was a turkey id still take the suspension!

My point really Danelectro, is that turkeys would vote to suspend christmas but that wouldn't stop it.

My office had a WTLL this morning, it was reported to me that London was mentioned and that our staff had been told that there had been no yes vote to strike action. Soooooooo I would advise all and sundry to correct that statement if it is raised to point out no dates have been fixed but the mandate is there.
