Yes it is entirely legal as long as he has the correct insurance. Royal Mail have a Bond (insurance) that covers the mail in his vehicle and a system call Private Cars on Delivery (PCOD) .

I personally don't agree with it as RM don't cover the extra costs involved but as long as his is happy then there are no legal problems.

You may think its illegal or dodgy but to be honest it will just as safe as it is in a RM van. The mail will still be at his mercy if he does not use his car and more importantly if he didn't it would be at other peoples mercy as well if he used Safe Drops, or Pouch Boxes because the mail would pass through more peoples areas of responsibility.

I removed yours not because it was offensive but because it did not fall into the guielines for this area of RMC -
So if you participate in this part of RMC,while it is much appreciated and a big help please help our customers as quickly and as informative as possible without sounding off and going off topic.
Your picture was not offensive, maybe even not off-topic I cant remember to be honest, and if it had been posted anywhere else it would have been ok. We just like to keep the Customers Forum as clean and polite as possible, as, in the past when we let it flow like the rest of RMC we got a few negative comments in certain "press" circles.

As for Postman's comment although he is right, perhaps he could have been a bit more circumspect, but this is his site, he pays for it, and he can quite literally say what he wants, I am surprised most people don't get that.
