Our mail centre paid the Professor £50,000 to visit earlier this year and we failed on nearly every 'pillar' :chuckle What a complete waste of time, effort and money. Funny how all the people involved in WCM are the ones that did f**k all on the shop floor.

All the people i speak to who are doing WCM tell me the only reason they do it,is because dockets scarce this time of year, and its easy overtime... :cuppa

That is what happens when managers hand pick these people. Same thing happened at my place (might even be the same place), they learned there lesson for a short while but have since reverted back to the easy jobs for lazy friends gimmick.

I used to defend the world class scheme, at least the aspects I had been involved with, but I found a flaw in their figures which meant targets were also flawed. I made someone aware of it and the answer was something a long the lines of fixing it would mean targets would be harder to achieve.
I guess it was far too difficult to comprehend that if you fix the problem you would also have to revise the figures accordingly....

If you're talking about the NWMMC then yes. The whole concept of WCM seems to be to over complicate what is basically common sense, and the excessive use of jargon, aka kaizens, gemba, etc is just laughable. I mean Pillars of Excellence sounds like something straight out of the mouth of David Brent. :chuckle
