A work to rule would be much more effective at offices where Park and Loop has been implemented.

Whoeever dismisses a work to rule straight away and limits themselves to strike action is too narrow minded and obvious to run this union.Wessex wrote:A work to rule would be much more effective at offices where Park and Loop has been implemented.
How can a wtr not work? every office now is ran off over time, ca4rs on delivery, coming in early, give the memberd the option to fight in this way and it would be far more popular than strike action, IMO!
Worst case scenorio* only one third take part, still enough to fk myoffice and run this for a week and there is no way it can be cleared. The offices running P and L couldnt cope only last month, WITH OVERTIME, FFS.

Re: Royal Mail's Betrayal:London Divisional Committee
It can't work because for the first month Royal Mail will throw managers and casuals at it and after a month of seeing their earning opportunities disappear into managers pockets your third of members would become a quarter...after another month there would be you,the rep and the guy who never does overtime anyway...ronpetetrevchris wrote: How can a wtr not work? every office now is ran off over time, ca4rs on delivery, coming in early, give the memberd the option to fight in this way and it would be far more popular than strike action, IMO!

And then there is the bullying and harassment you are setting your members up for.
And then, and i'm getting tired of saying this..there is the part-time members trying to put food on their table..
And who would police an overtime ban...would you be prepared to stand at the gate until dark o'clock to make sure nobody skipped out for a bit of sneaky O/T?
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Before imposing a work to rule - has anyone ever seen one imposed that DID work. We once had a stab at it - but right from the word go, people were doing overtime and in their cars.

They tried a work to rule in the mail center once, first week cost RM big time, they didn't need to go into the second week, it was all sorted, but it needs everyone to toe the line, something i don't think would happen now.

Re: Royal Mail's Betrayal:London Divisional Committee
surely, a total overtime ban, if its endorsed by the union, then more people will stick to it. if you dont, then its the same as crossing a picket line, if this is made clear then it WILL be more successfull. as for part timers losing money, will they not be losing more if we were out 2 days a week. i cannot for the life of me see how it would not work. i cant remember it ever being attempted before.? and lets say we did try it. if its not having the desired effect after say,,,,a month. then theres nothing stopping us from changing our tactics and moving to day strikes. i know im all for it, and i havent seen any argument to change my mind. but thats just me.fishtank wrote:It can't work because for the first month Royal Mail will throw managers and casuals at it and after a month of seeing their earning opportunities disappear into managers pockets your third of members would become a quarter...after another month there would be you,the rep and the guy who never does overtime anyway...ronpetetrevchris wrote: How can a wtr not work? every office now is ran off over time, ca4rs on delivery, coming in early, give the memberd the option to fight in this way and it would be far more popular than strike action, IMO!

Maybe Postman can set up a poll?
It does have some redeaming features.
1 thing the union should consider is that it may be more likely that people would vote yes.

Re: Royal Mail's Betrayal:London Divisional Committee
But we "Had RM by the balls" after the 2007 & 2009 strikes
Why change a clear winning tactic.
But then "defeat was snatched from victory" by the pie eaters.
So maybe a new tactic of rolling over may humbug RM and allow the pie eaters to snatch victory from defeat.
Yeah that will work

I must admit I don't know what the answer is BUT whatever reasons are given to take action should be all inclusive.gb93 wrote:But we "Had RM by the balls" after the 2007 & 2009 strikes![]()

i agree totally, we had them. then, as you say the pie eaters chucked it away. however, can you see them getting another vote for ia after the last fiasco. maybe this way will coax people to partake,,,,,YET AGAIN.gb93 wrote:But we "Had RM by the balls" after the 2007 & 2009 strikes![]()

Re: Royal Mail's Betrayal:London Divisional Committee
The last thing I would want is to see the CWU destroyed. Reformed, reorganised, distanced from the employer, more grass root involvement most certainly. Nobody should be under any illusion that this is definitely a crossroads in union affairs and IMHO, IA is going to be a hard road to follow. I think that there is not a broad enough base for input into the decision making at CWU HQ and that the decisions taken are not necessarily with the membership in mind.gb93 wrote:Does my tone deaf hearing detect a different tune theredvbuk55 wrote:I must admit I don't know what the answer is BUT whatever reasons are given to take action should be all inclusive.gb93 wrote:But we "Had RM by the balls" after the 2007 & 2009 strikes![]()
