No he can't. That's why union bosses should be on the same rate as the people they say they represent. Or as the IWW website has it:

The leadership of the C.W.U. are out of touch with the membership and more in tune with the management. And it has to be said that this feeling is not without justification. The salaries of full time union bosses, for that is the only way they can accurately be described, match precisely the salaries of the Post Office bosses they are supposed to be protecting us against.

Union leaders

Post by baldrick »

I agree with that. Union Reps and Officers at all levels should be paid the average wage (and pension)
of the members they represent.
That way they would be more detirmined to get us a decent living wage.

And MP's should be paid the national average wage and pension.

Here you are. It's a few years old, but it still makes some valid points.

It makes you wonder that if our profits for last year amounted to 197 million and this year a reported 12 million loss then where on earth does 350 million figure in the equation.

As RM have submitted the accounts to Postcomm only, have they ring fenced the 350 million to pay the supposed fine only to plead poverty and claw it back for next year - or this year now.

There is a time and place for this discussion but imo not here and especially not NOW.

Are you seriuosly suggesting our union execs. are paid in excess of £1,000,000. If so prove it.

Yet again FOzziebear your post makes it crystal clear which side you are batting for.

Its the oldest establishment trick in the book; Launch personal attacks on union leaders by means of innuendo,
rumour, guilt by association, all to undermine the cause. Its usually done in the Murdoch press but i guess times change.

I think you will find the article dates from 2001, so yes, in all probability Billy was on about the same as his Royal Mail equivalent at the time along will interest free loans etc. There was an article about it in Class War about the same time, but I didn't keep hold of it. Either way, do you think Billy should be on £120,000 a year basic? I don't. He has no incentive to fight for us.

I believe any workers representative should be paid the average wage of those they represent.[including MP's]

I also believe that winning this dispute is paramount.

These might be fertile times, but some arguements may have a negative effect on some people.lol :Very Happy

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
