Vertical?

Why would you make a vertical letterbox?

:arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

Maybe Mrs Rorrrrison lives behind this door. :chuckle
It would be funny but it's actually the fire exit for the local weightwatchers club. :nervous

I would suggest something. There should be something on the box to stop dogs attacking letterbox. :dance

Perhaps you may interested to learn about the New Integral Letter Plate which was introduced at Ecobuild last week.
I would imagine this to be a Postman's dream!!
There is strong interest in it, please look at the short video below.
A lovely TRADITIONAL Letter Plate that can be finished in any material and old or new style.
Won't bite your fingers, and crumple mail, easy passage of mail - right through the letter box - taking up to a Yellow pages Directory with room to spare.
The highly proven and praised Ecoflap is the forerunner to this. (Ecoflap is for fitting onto the back of the door - and for keeping the existing front letter plate.
Here is the link to your easier delivery round.

I think you should revert to the original name. In essence, the devices you are selling are flaps of fun, as they promise to make my job easier and more enjoyable.

I'd like some measurements. For example, how big is that book? Will it really take a Yellow Pages? Is it the same Yellow Pages we are talking about here? The thing doesn't really look that big to me.

I wonder, what are the implications if a postman was to give names addresses to the ecoflap people. If I was to give them the details of the idiots that have a two inch vertical slot, they could target their advertising.

Applicable also to the New Integral Letter Plate seen in the video -the Ecoflap retro fits over a standard letter box aperture measuring up to 30cms x 8 cms (horizontal). Packages up to 28.75 cms x 5.325 cms can be accomodated (The Yellow Pages fits through easily with room to spare.)
The book size you see in the video is:
26 cms x 18.5 cms x 3.5 cms
Takes a book with same measurements but 4 cms thick
Takes just under a ream of 80g A4
Our Yellow Pages is and used for marketing 29.5 cms x 21 cms x 3cms Reading & Newbury
The NEW SMALLER Yellow Pages is 24.5cms x 17.5 cms x 2cms Reading & Newbury

See here -

Measurements question answered.

Reading the lower paragraph the only thing that we could do when you have a very bad day is to provide this link http://bit.ly/dLu0Yc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Print it!

Ive looked at your website and watched the small Youtube video.

When the A4 flat (letter) comes through the flap seems to pivot on its center instead of fully opening? Would not this prevent the whole letter box size being used and create a blockage, sorry iam i missing something. If thats the case a folded newspaper would snap it clean off in one go :hmmmm
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

The part that pivots slides up when required. If you push through a 1cm item it slides up 1cm, a 4 cm item 4cm etc. i think :)

is it just me, or does the demonstrator appear to struggle a bit when putting the book through? What happens when, over time, dust particles from envelopes and dirt etc build up in the sliding mechanism at the edges of the flap, thus making the 'smooth' adjustable nature very very rigid?

Not knocking the idea in the slightest, just a wondering what the aftercare information is for the product, as I can foresee folk thinking these are fantastic up to the point where the flap no longer retracts as it's stuck in grime.

Similar if you will to the problem we have with ill fitting letter boxes catching on the botched inside of the doorframe or the brushes, leaving the box permentantly open.

Dog guards and Cat guards are also the next logical step (the wire boxes folk put on back of the door, while an a4 letter will fit through, it doesn't bend into the space - so some persuasion is usually required.

What you are seeing is the Ecoflap lifting one side and not the other. It can also lift the other side and not the other.
The flap moves like a link in a chain. It rises up parallel, it rises up slanting at any degree one side or the other.
It depends upon the angle at which a letter or small package or whatever is pushed through.
Ecoflap will operate to suit the delivery, and angle of delivery.
The whole point about Ecoflap is that it does not cause a blockage. It will see your delivery through whatever.
There are more videos on the site. Go to http://bit.ly/dO5Z8B" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and look at some of the others when finished on Utube. It's all there.
A folded newspaper is equally easy to post through. We've had the Sunday Times - folded or rolled. What you don't see here is the "widget" on the Ecoflap.
This is a tongue like flap that clicks into the inside of the unit. http://bit.ly/dVerQ6" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Richard has only supplied them for people that MAY have constant thick deliveries pushed through WORKING WITH AN OUTWARD LIFT UP EXTERNAL FLAP.
Richard now supplies all Ecoflaps with one - he doesn't fix them permanently (which a spot of glue will do) so that clients can use or not. It protects the pivoting point against constant ramming and is an Eco flap LIFTER. This same basis is with the new Integral full letter box system.

Struggling
No the demonstrator is not struggling. The demonstrator actually is the Inventor. He pushed it first to show how the flap begins to conform to the thickness of the book, removes it and then posts it through normally.
Regarding dust particles and grime:
As the flap is closed over 99.99% of time there is no time for dust particles to collect on the mating surfaces. Even if there were the next delivery would wipe and remove them. As everything is lightweight without springs to add greater bearing on friction surfaces and therefore low friction, wear and tear is reduced to a minimum and actually so far has not been shown to be a possible problem with the Ecoflap.
Botched Letter Boxes
Botched letter boxes with botched interior flaps and brushes certainly cause a lot of problems.
Ecoflap automatically lines up properly with the letter box hole and offers NO restriction as brushes and sprung flaps do. The Integral Letter Plate of course will have all these benefits naturally. NB No brushes or springs!
Dog Guards etc
We have no control over peoples pets and protection methods, but be mindful that Ecoflap - one of the main features allows easy passage through without taking fingers with it. The pet should have no chance to grab if there were NO guard.
You will be able to post through the new Integral Twin Flap (new door industry) without even touching the letter box.
