Budget Cuts 2011

Post by Geezer »

In my Area the Managers have been tasked with savings from next years Budget.
To do this they are changing the model week used to a week with lower traffic, which in turn lowers the BSI for an Office.
Managers then try and bring in cuts by stating that the BSI has dropped and needs to be brought back up using IWT.
Because of this the Reps have been told to not, get into any sort of discussions involving cuts and to put in a disagreement. :Very Happy

A sick joke of a company.
And they are currently running that f***ing advert again, you know the one, the "we'll grow your business" one, and all the while they're shrinking their own to the size of a very small fart.
As the Yanks might say, "go figure." :arrrghhh

Whats the word on the stage 3. The ADR's in my area don't beleive that the DSM's will use Executive Action to force cuts through.
Talking to some of the DOM's, They have been told that they must make these savings from week one, And if thry can't get the
Office Rep to agree changes that they must lapse the hours the DSM Wants ( 80Hrs ) each week, week in week out.
The stupid thing is we fail everyday and he just wont get anyone to do any lapseing,End Of.
The funny thing is i had a meeting months ago with the DSM at the time who agreed to let us Resource the office properly.
We needed 4 more jobs put it, he gave us 2, but since then he has been moved and i have been argueing with the new DSM, Via the Manager and ADR's
for the 2we need and at last got him to agree to this and another float job put back in ( All on a temp basis only till we have a full revision, but better than nothing )
I am also argueing for some of our PT's who want to be made up to FT to be made up.
So my point now is why give us these posts which they agreeed we needed and then expect the office to be able to lose 80 Hrs a week.

Good Luck with yours mate, cos these fools in charge live in cloud cockoo land :wave

Wouldn't it be a good idea to just agree changes under protest and grab the £800 before privatisation. Then go cut off. Or would just pushing it up to stage 3 because of the total unachievable being expected?

BTW are the revisions back on again?

These are budget savings that the managers have been tasked with, not geo Route revision savings. :confused

A rumour has surfaced at my D.O that those finshing early will have more work put on them and absorbing /lapsing will return rather than sitting tight untill the next revision.

Will be speaking to the delivery manager in the morning as the DOM is on week 2 of annual leave.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
