Re: d2d
I think the projected break even threshold for D2D wrapping is 12 per week. At that point the prep saving offsets the cost of automation , ergo indoor hours slashed , but nothing added to walks and just imagine the possible bulk/weight of 12x D2D + real mail :vcfo

Bring 'em on.
Sorry.
Sorry.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

40 mins BELIAL?BELIAL wrote:40 mins off prep time ,40 mins onto walk ; 1in 12 duties shed

As you can see by the table the time given by IWT decreases exponentially set against the number of D2D received.Number of Contracts.....Items per Minute....Method......................Total extra indoor time daily minutes
1...................................22...............Sort to Frame...........................4
2...................................11...............Sort to Frame...........................8
3.....................................8...............Collate & Sort to Frame..............10
4.....................................8...............Collate & Sort to Frame...............11
5.....................................7...............Collate & Sort to Frame...............12
6.....................................6...............Collate & Sort to Frame...............14
14 minutes at 6 means that to get 40 mins prep allocated you would need around 38 D2D.
Even on a 1000 call walk
The point is D2D into workload only helps if the times are realistic otherwise you are simply aligning more work against duties than is achievable, cutting jobs as a direct consequence
I'm not against D2D into workload but it has to be properly resourced for the members to buy into it and at the moment it clearly isn't in most D.O.s.
Don't blame the haters....there is a reason they hate it.

Re: d2d
Exactly, 14 minutes for 6 d2ds - aka 95 x 6 (570) on the walk I'm on at present - yeah, right! I reckon I get about 1000 mech letters on a normal day which we're given 1.5hrs prep for. So circa forty-five minutes for 6 d2ds.fishtank wrote:40 mins BELIAL?BELIAL wrote:40 mins off prep time ,40 mins onto walk ; 1in 12 duties shed

Re: d2d
That is 14 mins on 1/6 of a '500' dp frame, how many will have 500 dp's after these revisions.
Ok the extra aint a lot but minutes + minutes makes hrs.
Oh and ftr if it takes me longer than their sham figures,so be it.

Re: d2d
That's the point though...if it takes you 5 or 10 minutes longer what happens to that time?POSTMAN wrote: Oh and ftr if it takes me longer than their sham figures,so be it.
It isn't protecting any jobs any more because IWT and pegasus have already maxed out your working day.
All it will do is encourage members to come in early or work through their breaks...and you can call them idiots all you like but it doesn't solve anything.
The reality is the majority of people will follow the easiest path and then D2D into workload becomes part of the problem, not the solution.

Re: d2d
That doesn't matter. It is per 500 delivery points - so if you've got 750 it is 14 minutes + 50% = 21 minutes. (Still unachievable mind)POSTMAN wrote:That is 14 mins on 1/6 of a '500' dp frame,how many will have 500 dp's after these revisions.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I understand of course,my point was at least it's something.

I'm losing the will. All it will do is encourage members to come in early or work through their breaks...and you can call them idiots all you like but it doesn't solve anything.

Re: d2d
I found it funny after the agreement how many people thought that D2D would come in an 'exploding' envelope. Two people even voted yes thinking they would lose money on D2D because it would be classed as a single item.
What RM actually meant was that we will be doing seven D2D during the week and a an exploding pack of ten D2Ds to every address on a Saturday.

You can lose the will all you like but you won't change human nature, especially during a f**k off recession when jobs are like hens teeth...even s**t jobs.
Piling on more work encourages a lot of members to cut corners, start early and ignore breaks...that's a fact.
Not a nice fact or a strong "grow a pair" fact...but still a fact.

Blaming no one Fish , and like you I'm not against D2D into w/l but taking a pay cut for the privilege was a big membership loser don't you agree.fishtank wrote:40 mins BELIAL?BELIAL wrote:40 mins off prep time ,40 mins onto walk ; 1in 12 duties shed

We both know those figures are nonsense , just take a look at the collated items per minute.
But you sort of miss the point , I know RM will say you should prep 500 items per second when introducing extra D2D , but if they wrap them and they come looking for savings it will suddenly turn out that they were taking loads longer and automation will yet again cut millions of hours
