Still experiencing parcel delays

Post by cat1spot »

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could advise whether there is still a parcel delay in the Dunfermline Area (KY11). Parcel was sentfrom London area by RM Standard parcels 3-5 day delivery on 2nd or 3rd December (sizeable package - probably 10kg in weight). I'm not sure if it's in Bathgate on its holidays!!
I've probably been unlucky as it's hit at the start of the bad weather but I'm starting to get a wee bit cheesed off waiting for it :arrrghhh - thankfully not a xmas pressie. Mail seems to be pretty much back to normal based on the deluge of xmas cards this week.

Would it be worth checking at the Dunfermline Delivery Office to see if they know anything as its not tracked mail and is there a way of getting their opening hours on the web?

Thanks in advance for any response.

Blimey that's a long time,i would contact the office and see what they say, opening hrs 'could' be 8-ish to 2-ish.
There is still backlogs in a lot of places but they should be less and less now. :nervous
Also try and speak to your postie if you can catch him/her.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Postman,
Thanks for the response, I'll pop along to the sorting office tomorrow before work, its not easy to catch the postie at the moment as I'm normally working and when I do see them I'm not sure it's the same one. I do understand the delays as the weather was quite bad the first week in December but think it really should have got here by now. I just wondered if the letters backlog was being cleared before the parcels as if Royal Mail were putting a spin on the number of items in the backlog it would presumably be quicker and easier to deliver large numbers of letters rather than heavy parcels and we were still getting xmas cards on Monday.

Not that I know anything about mail delivery but know how cynical pr people work!

Still waiting in Dunfermline area for 2 packets sent at the beginning of January for RM first class signed delivery.

Asked postman about them, he muttered "weather, and other things and management" and went on his way.

No problem with him, but what on earth is going on?

Supposed to be working all weekend to clear the backlog.....that'll be right!

i do quite a bit of ebaying and of 3 packets sent 20/12 2 have been reported and not recieved.
ebay have taken the cash and i will have to claim from RM.
it seems that they are paying up immediately and not investigating any cases apart from SD.
the annoying thing is that the item will arrive eventually and if RM would make a stand and admit their faults to all online retailers, ebay etc more time could be allowed with perhaps a smaller compensation for the delay.
if RM was skint before the office revisions god knows where they will be by the end of the financial year.

Well, its Sunday 16th January and the backlog clearing little red van has gone up our street and down again without my two packages, which have been delayed by nearly two weeks now, being delivered.

One wonders where they are.

Surely if the sorting office has them, they would be put on a van for delivery.

If that is the backlog now cleared then I have lost my two packages.

Great.

Spoke to a nice friendly postie from Edinburgh who was doing some rounds in my street in Dunfermline today, the backlog has still not cleared and staff are being drafted in from Edinburgh and possibly Bathgate for the whole of this week to clear the backlog. I'm glad my parcel wasn't perishable it's been awol since 2nd December!

it's not just Edinburgh posties who are being drafted in to try and help, I hear that Glaswegians are being asked to come and help out. Normal post as in letters are largely getting through, but they are struggling with packets - so don't think it's lost, just 'stuck'.
