wiganpostie wrote: So, the gist of your argument is that Warrington staff are "pretty dreadful" because they do the job properly, and don't take risks leaving your parcels in unsafe places where any Romanian leaflet deliverer could steal them? From your original post I would wager that you are the type of person who would be on the phone immediately to complain if one of your parcels went missing as a result of being left in an unsafe place, which would have serious repercussions for the postman who left the parcel in your wheelie bin/porch. Do you seriously believe that he should risk losing his job by not doing it properly, just for the sake of your convenience?
It's the way it was for years, the postie would just open our door and put the parcels inside, if the door was locked (which is rare) then he'd put it in the wheelie bin and leave a card, NEVER have we had a parcel stolen as a result. What can be safer than opening a door and putting it inside a house for heavens sake, it's a damn sight safer than taking it back to the delivery office. My parents postie still does this and has done for as long as they can remember and they have NEVER had a parcel stolen as a result. It takes no time or effort for a postie to just open a door and put a parcel inside, infact it's quicker than knocking and waiting for an answer. Posties claiming they don't want to risk their job and are just following orders are just hiding behind management, they are twisted, it gives them a buzz knowing they've caused the customer the inconvenience of having to go and collect their parcels, there is no other explanation.

As usual, your powers of perception are spot on. You are are completely correct - nothing gives me (or any other postman for that matter) greater satisfaction than carrying a large, heavy parcel around in my bag instead of delivering it. I especially love the parcels with the jutting edges that dig into my sides - my, how I love sticking a red card through someone's door instead of delivering those ones, it means I can walk around for a good 40 minutes more with the things digging into my innards.

There must be a mistake in the system. I was talking to one of my friends from there today, who told me that they've already cleared their backlog. So your parcel, must be somewhere further on in the system. We have been having a lot of problems with the tracking system for a few weeks now. It could be at the Mail Centre (MC) for your area. Many of them still have severe backlogs.

I'm sorry that the system has been giving you out of date information. But at least you know now, that it's started to move again.
