There's absolutely no need for that.

Pity the CWU didn't think about that when selling delivery staff out. They have almost no support amongst delivery staff for longer/later Saturdays, and as a result of their negligence support amongst delivery staff for Mon-Fri working has never been higher.realmichael wrote:not for the thousands that would have to be paid off it would'entDirtyHarry wrote:Actually, I'm wrong.
You can beat having an early finish EVERY Saturday, NOT working ANY Saturday would be an excellent result.
Absolutely spot on! The CWU and Royal Mail have f****d delivery staff in the ass for far too long - its cut off all the way from now on for me!DirtyHarry wrote:Pity the CWU didn't think about that when selling delivery staff out. I had no problem with working until an acceptable time on Saturday, but as that is no longer good enough, my vote will always go to whoever moves to bring in Mon-Fri working week.
I am not prepared to accept further declines in our terms & conditions, not anymore.
I think you better check your sources, cos that is certainly not a universal truth. Somebody is telling you porkiesSome good news is that the orignal trial sites like Gatwick are now sequencing up to 80% of mail on the first wave which means offices are getting more of their work earlier and this means that offices should be able to finish earlier.
as previously stated we do not get 1 in 4 sats off been told were 1 in 6 and no options where do we go from heredingo wrote:I have no problem having a debate about anything but sometimes it would seem that some posters do not understand the postal system they work in. Look everyone knew the issue of later saturdays was going to be a challenge and would not be popular. Does anyone really believe the CWU wanted to have later finishes on a saturday ? The last things which got resolved was the issue of later Saturdays. The CWU tried everything to change Royal Mail`s later Saturday demand.
But the fact is once Royal Mail were going to introduce walk sequencing and ILSMs and the one inward and one outward pass system then it was going to be impossible to stop. Why you may ask , well currently your intra , dsa and mailsort and neighbour mail can be seqeuenced from midnight , the problem is that your distant mail does not clear your inward mail centre till 4.40 in the morning, currently if you do not have walk sequencing that comes into your delivery office to be IPS . However once you have sequencing that will go to your MPU and depending where your delivery office are in the batch plan system then you wont get that second batch of mail till as late as 0900 or 10 in the morning . You still have to sort it , do your redirections etc, tie up and then go and deliver it.
Now the CWU asked for the machines to stop on Friday night and Saturday morning so a delivery office would have that mail earlier or even to only be walk sorted rather than sequenced. Royal Mail stated that they were not going to use the Government loan to buy machines but not run them on a Saturday. Moreover if your revision is based on what seqeuencing you recieve Monday - friday then how would you cope on a Saturday if suddenly you had to have more IPS and prep work as it was not being sequenced.
So the union did argue and did try and find a alternative way to keep early Saturdays but seqeucning and the fact that you have mail for say London which comes from Scotland and the South West which does not clear their own mail centres until 11 at night and then gets transported to the your own mail centre to be inward sorted and clears your own mail centre as late as 4.40 in the morning and then will be sequenced rather than be IPS means I am afaid later Saturdays for some. Thats why the CWU got the 1 in 4 Saturdays off and the menu of options. Some good news is that the orignal trial sites like Gatwick are now sequencing up to 80% of mail on the first wave which means offices are getting more of their work earlier and this means that offices should be able to finish earlier. Not all offices have yet introduced the inward pass as it can only do this oncea whole postcode has introduced sequencing.
So its easy to shout your anger and disgust but tell us the solution and what you think the union should have done ?

The time your mail arrives is dependant on where your office is in the Great Plan.
It isn't open to local agreement.
it doesn't work that way.in carlisle wave 1 (dg offices) leaves at 0430 and wave 2 (ca offices) leaves at 0500 so the delivery office closest to the mail centre will get their mail 1st.simples.wave 3 (dg again) leaves at 0530( but is usually late) and wave 4 (ca again) leaves at 0600.
Youwot he's joking mate, are you not aware of the MC breaks gag.youwot!!!!! wrote:DGP1 wrote:Not what we've been told (by the planner) we'll get ours last because we're that close to the MC, maybe if the MC staff actually did some work instead of spending their entire lives on breaks then we might get our mail in reasonable time.youwot!!!!! wrote:daveyeff wrote:why?DGP1 wrote:No, the closer you are to the MC then the later you get your mail.daveyeff wrote:we,re about 10mins away from the mail centre. hopefully that will go in our favour, but knowing rm, they will probably send it out to the outlying offices first.clashcityrocker wrote:Your start time is depenndant on the arrival of your (second wave) mail from the MC (or wherever)

yet another well thought out arguement dgp.your ignorance is amazing.if that was said about delivery staff you would spit your dummy out again and go on another rant.
