HELP!! WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
Hi there folks please help!! We had a recorded signed for letter delivered on the 18th Dec 2010, unfortunately with not being in was returned to my local sorting office with a blue card left. The advice was to allow 48 hours!! My poor hubby has returned to the collection point 4 days running now, has queued for over an hour each time in sub zero temps, only to be told i quote ' Sorry mate it hasn't come down yet' Please would any kind person please advise me at what stage i realy should start to get angry? should i ask for a supervisor? If truth be known i've done nothing but think about this letter over Christmas It's taken the shine off a bit, as i have this awfull gut fear this letter is well lost, the contents being irreplaceable, paperwork of a recently deceased chap.

Re: HELP!! WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
I'd starting getting pissed off now, I'd have asked to see a manager and not leave until I get a better explaination. It should be there shortly after the postman takes it back to the office.

What 'might' of happened is...
The postie may of pouched off the letter with other stuff so it has gone through the system again and is now in a backlog somewhere.
Baring in mind the mess we are in at the mo the postie shouldn't of done it,if that is what the postie has done.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Postman might be right, but you at least deserve to hear that from somebody so you understand exactly where your letter is.

Sorry Postman, i have to disagree, in our office we pouch off our shuts, we're not paid to go back to the office. That's the official stance in our office. The postie may of pouched off the letter with other stuff so it has gone through the system again and is now in a backlog somewhere.

Re: HELP!! WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
Pixiejane - We've had 2 instances of this in our office recently
Scenario 1 - Postman didn't endorse the letter correctly, so it went back for redelivery but took 4-5 days to get back from the mail centre
Scenario 2 - Longest one eve. A bag of pouched off items took 8 days to get back from one particular walk in our office that had been "pouched off", only problem is, he put it in a mail sack and sent it to the mail centre, rather than in a pouch with the delivery office address on it.
If the office was being sensible with regards to things like this, they would keep items a wee bit longer to give customers the chance to collect.
Good luck

Do you want him sacked for taking it home with him ? Theres no time to take it back to the DO over xmas so what should he have done ??POSTMAN wrote:What 'might' of happened is...

Re: HELP!! WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?
Common sense (now there's 2 words that don't really go with RM and 'some' posties) would tell you that an action plan should of been put in place for this.calpsy wrote:Do you want him sacked for taking it home with him ? What type of plan would depend on how the office works.
