I just hate it when these people blame us posties for everything that goes wrong, every letter, magazine, junk, packets and parcels I had to deliver was delivered. People this this "person" make me wonder why I bother. I bet you weren't freezing cold for up to 5 hours a day outside.

But I can't expect a delivery on New Year's Day because no-one except me works on a New Years Day, and not on Sunday 2nd because no-one except me works Sundays, and not on Monday 3rd because it's a Bank Holiday and no-one except me works on a Bank Holiday, and not on Tuesday 4th because my postman will have a headache.
The suspense is killing me. Please, please tell me what you do for a living ? You may become my hero !

Likewise I sent two parcels to another destination and only one has been delivered. I think it's the posties who refuse to carry more than a certain amount of mail on their rounds and the rest goes missing or back in the system where is stays until someone notices it.

Likewise letters. I had a hospital appointment delivered on the date i was expected there, having been in the mail system a week. Who are the people who decide *when* our mail should be delivered to us?!

This has nothing to do with weather, Amazon or managers. It's to do with the people who sort stuff and deliver it. I think this mess up over christmas is going to backfire badly at the Royal Mail and those postmen who showed they are prepared to show two fingers at their legal obligations to customers.

I'm someone who has been ripped off financially by the RM over this holiday and unlike any other company or agency, there isn't a chance of getting compensation or even an apology.

Ah - the old late Hospital Appointment chestnut !

I would love to know the true reasons for your "ill informed" rhetoric !

It is perfectly true and another arrived today, for an appointment yesterday, posted on the 20th December. I'm am not being rude to you, simply stating facts of the reality of what is happening to our mail.

All statements and bills which were expected in the week before Christmas are missing, no one knows where they are, plus some Christmas mail. It is worrying as I will be penalised if my bills are not paid on time and I trust the RM would ensure stuff like bank statements and cheque books are delivered safely, but they were not in this case.

My "rhetoric" is not "ill informed". I have spoken to the local PO where they have been told that people are still concerned about their missing mail and cannot get through to anyone on a phone at the MC.

These last few weeks have been the worst on record for RM. Being aggressive in response to serious complaints is not the answer.

If you see my reply to your previous post you will how ill informed your post was. If the PO gave you such advice then I am afraid they are also sadly misinformed. Also you not being able to speak to someone at an MC is not the posties fault, I mean they will be busy sorting mail and delivering it. The managers have the responsibility to answer customer complaints and queries, thats one of the reasons they get paid more than us.

Being aggressive towards postal workers on an unofficial forum for posties was always going to get the response you have got. If you wanted to be treated with respect and politeness it would have been a good move to have done the same.

However, most on here would agree with you about the last few weeks, and guess what they have been posting statements to that effect for at least 6 weeks.

This is a Customers thread and if you don't like the heat here keep out of the kitchen! I'm not out to stir up trouble, I'm here because I am very worried about what has happened to my mail. We as customers should not be afraid to speak up to posties and on threads like this in case they get aggressive. Some of us have experienced that in real life, caused enough fear to report it. I'm afraid that posties have brought that reputation on themselves. Not all of them, but a few who think bullying is the way to survive.

Post Offices are not going to support the level of bad service we have just experiences as they are the people who take our money, who promise a good customer service under the law of the land. They are right in the middle of it all and when we can't get through to anyone in the MC it is the PO who is next in line to ask if they know anything about what is happening.

I don't get intimidated by abusive responses to my concerns and complaints, and may I point you that being so defensive is not the way to go in the dire state the RM finds iteslf now. This needs discussion, and intelligent explanation.

Bit difficult I am a Moderator which means I have responsibility towards all members of RMC not just customers. If you talk down to members, are aggressive, or post incorrect information then I have to address it. Thats what I did.

Correct but neither should Posties on an UNOFFICIAL unrecognised volunteer only Forum, be subject to miss-informed or biased posts without being allowed to respond in the same vein. On RMC whether you are a customer or an employee of RM makes no difference you treat each other with respect or be prepared to get the same treatment back. If we were an official forum then perhaps we would have to accept a certain level of abuse but as we are not then different rules apply.

If I may be so bold - you had a bad experience with one or perhaps a few Posties and that has coloured your approach to us, which while understandable its unfair to the 160,000 you haven't. If you treat me as an individual and with respect you will get it back - if you don't then why expect me to do the same.

Not only are the Post Offices in the middle of it - so are we the Posties trying to give everyone the service they paid for. If the POs don't know what's going on and they are in the same business as us and have computers to communicate information to each other, why would you expect an ordinary postie who when on delivery has no access to any information to be better informed.

Correct and absolving Management of all of the blame and putting on the Posties is neither discussing it or providing an intelligent explanation.

I have never personally met the majority of my customers far less showed them two fingers.
My biggest customers today were....Studio,Ace(same company i think) BT and the DWP.
Tomorrow...who knows?...might be virgin media.
I don't have a legal obligation to any of them though...my employer does.
My only obligation is that i go to work and fulfil the terms of my contract of employment which i do on a daily basis...that's why they pay me.

Although most Royal Mail employees feel a moral obligation to the recipients of their customers mail,in my opinion it is one that those recipients have taken for granted for far too long without feeling the need to give anything back by way of support for the continuation of a service they seem to think they have some kind of civil right to.
Privatisation if and when it comes will show you exactly what obligations you can expect and just how much you will pay for them.
Your Christmas will subcontracted out to the lowest tender...and their obligations if they have any.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

aww darn, i had a bit long post typed out and hit the back key by accident.

I aint gonna start again.

Although this is a Customers section of the forums, it's there so we can help customers where we can. I totally understand how frustrating it is for mail to go missing or be delayed, but there were many influencing factors. The weather, extra christmas mail, the amazon fiasco (that a few of us thought would happen anyhoo) and Royal Mail bringing in new delivery methods at the busiest time of year.

How you can blame posties for this astounds me. I think you need to take this to Royal Mail instead of on here tbh. Nothing to do with the Post Office or the Posties on the ground.

Ftr one of our guys have just posted the below, the place is still in turmoil...
the mail centre itself is full to capacity, to the extent a marquee has been rented and put up in the car park to accomodate mail and packets etc,
there is also approx 35 trailers storing mail (each can contain 50 yorks of mail) parked up on the loading bays,
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
