Postal Delays December 2010 Surrey Area

Post by FlorenceWarren »

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to ask if anyone has any information about the delays in the Effingham area of Surrey, I've ordered a large package
and it was dispatched on Monday the 6th but no sign of it yet and I'm getting quite anxious as it's a gift for someone quite special,
does anyone work in the post service or have any information that could help me, for example how long the expected delays here are,
any ideas on when It might be delivered, anything to offer me hope really.

Anyway, I've called through to my local sorting office but clearly they have been overburdened with calls and questions from
people asking similar questions to me and so were rather unhelpful. Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi Florence Royal mail has a massive backlog of mail including parcels ... i am waiting on 3 items and i don't know when they will arrive as the backlogged items recieve a low priority compared to recently sent items ... something i don't personally agree with ... it is just the way the company works

i thought this was the case i have been waiting on itwms sent last week and from the 30th Nov but all i seem to be recieving is junk mail and bills or statements .. posted in the last few days ....thought they would have prioritised the backlog mail first

with this recent bout of bad weather will only exacerbate the christmas mail problems .... the best way to describe it was clint eastwood when said in the film Heartbreak Ridge - "it's a cluster f-uck" ... but on a grander scale

Yep, still no sign of my package. My house has had no letters or packages since the first snow, which is annoying since I was expecting not only the package but a letter from my bank. Have given up on getting the package by christmas, which is a shame since Royal Mail are usually very reliable.

Hi Florence,

Sorry your parcel has still not turned up  This weather has really caused problems by slowing the already busy flow of christmas mail. The only thing i can suggest is a trip to your local delivery office's inquiry counter and simply ask if they can look to see if your parcel is waiting to go out. My office is reasonble small and we will always go and look to see if a parcel is waiting to be loaded on the vans. If yours is a large depot this may not be possible but it might be worth asking. Take some I.D. for your address. Best of luck.
