At this time of the year and with the closure of mail centres across the country all 3 are quite possible as are many more. We have had stories on here of mail from scotland being moved down to London (and other) MCs for sorting and then taken back to scotland. Although this wont be a good answer for you it is unfortunately the current management who has inspired or perhaps instigated a better word, this state of affiars.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
Dear all,
I've had the same problems as the previous posters... a trackable package... lost in the YDC... should've been delivered on the 10th of December.
I've called the Amazon helpdesk last friday (i.e. the 17th of December) and explained the problem. Their solution was quite simple: it should definitely arrive before the 20th of December, if it hasn't arrived before then, call us back (with a provided reference number) and then we'll send a fresh package via Premium mail.
I was sure that I would need to call them last monday!
However, much to my surprise and delight: in the snow, -8 celsius, on sunday morning.. our local Postman rang the bell.
Additional voluntary work on Sunday was needed to lower the pile of packages in transit, but they got it delivered!
Well done Royal Mail!
A satisfied customer!

"Yorkshire Distribution Centre Staff"
Can anyone help, my order from amazon has been in Yorkshire Distribution Centre since the 8th Dec and its now the 21st Dec ? What happens in this YDC ? Do parcels go into a big black hole ? or they picked randomly or at whim for delivery ? is there any chance that they will be delivered for this friday,?
Despite having tracking number ( no use as just still says in yorkshire Distribution Centre ? ) And the phone line for customers to ring royal mail is bad to say the least, never actually got to speak to a real person yet, just always either busy or on ansamachine !!
I am fortunate that I have the phone number for my local sorting office, and have been ringing in daily, speaking to a real person, to check on the daily non progress of my parcel from the faraway land of Yorkshire, and am quite happy to collect it from my sorting office if and when it ever gets delivered to st.helens.
Am fully aware of the weather ( drive a 18 ton vehicle myself ) how busy this time of year is ect ect ect
If there is anyone from YDC that does manage to spot an amazon parcel, quite cold and dusty by now, that may have been used to keep a door closed or some such thing, thats earmarked for delivery to the st.helens area, if you could kindly throw it onto the next vehicle leaving the depo it would be much appreciated.
thanks in advance

My Parcel came at midday today. Thanks to the royal mail workers for getting it out before Christmas.NorfolkMan wrote:Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Found this thread after searching in Google for any problems with RM's Track and Trace. Ordered my goods from Amazon on the 8th and they apparently arrived at the YDC on the 9th, where they've been sitting there ever since. Absolutely no information from RM about when they are getting delivered, now I'm sitting here wondering if I'm going to have to explain on Christmas morning why people's presents aren't there. Not impressed whatsoever.

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
Just wanted to say a huge big thank you to all the Posties who are out in the freezing cold on icy pavements. Like others, I'm waiting on deliveries, but Christmas will still have turkey and pudding and crackers and family (and a bottle of whiskey (and an old Scalextric set for the kids) to prevent said family getting fractious) even if the weather stops the presents getting through.
Merry Christmas

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
Lets try another perspective.
You work in an accounts dept. You have 30 accounts to bring up to date before Xmas. Should manage it. Then Management give you another 15 accounts to do as they feel
you have it far too easy. Now you have 45 accounts to clear.
Will try to clear them but will have to work a bit harder. F*cking W*nking management!!! Then the snow comes in and makes it impossible to get to work for a few days.
Will have to work around the clock to get the 45 accounts done. F*cking weather!!! Then the other accountants in your town/city hand over their accounts for you to do
because they missed some working days too. Now you have 3000 accounts to do and 2 days to do it in. Welcome to the Royal Mail.

I do feel for some who have invested all they have in these presents for their kids but others are overreacting just a little.Aprilaydee wrote:Why should it RUIN a christmas?! As you say April...Christmas is supposed to be about a great deal more than what present you get especially for adults.

Yes, it's mainly about the alcohol.fishtank wrote:I do feel for some who have invested all they have in these presents for their kids but others are overreacting just a little.Aprilaydee wrote:Why should it RUIN a christmas?! I know it's a special time of year and all, and kids can be very demanding (I should know, I was a kid once) but I can honestly say, hand on heart, I never screamed the place down if I didn't get something I'd put on my list to Santa. I do remember every year asking for a train set or scalectrix and never getting one though. Can't say I really cared that much on xmas morning!
If I had a kid that had a face on them because something else they wanted didn't arrive, I'd take all the presents back off them. Ungrateful sods. There are children out there that haven't even got a roof over their heads or food and they're worried about not getting whatever toy is so much in demand at the moment.
People shouldn't let material items make or break a christmas. It should definitely be about spending the time with those close to you. Even if there's no presents, it's meant to be dry enough this year to go for a walk, take the kids to the park, build snowmen... or even maybe some voluntary work? Some of us give up our time over Xmas to go help others.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
Haii all..
I want to ask something..
I bought an item from the USA. They sent it using USPS and Royal Mail for the delivery in Britain.
Attempted Delivery Abroad, December 29, 2010, 8:30 am, GREAT BRITAIN
At Foreign Delivery Unit, December 29, 2010, 5:37 am, GREAT BRITAIN
Out of Foreign Customs, December 24, 2010, 8:06 am, GREAT BRITAIN
Into Foreign Customs, December 22, 2010, 11:19 pm, GREAT BRITAIN
Into Foreign Customs, December 22, 2010, 11:18 pm, GREAT BRITAIN
Arrived Abroad, December 22, 2010, 11:16 pm, GREAT BRITAIN
International Dispatch, December 18, 2010, 10:07 am, ISC SAN FRANCISCO (USPS)
It's been more than 2 weeks since the last status. I lived in a student accommodation in the university. So, the postman should have sent the item into the receptionist, but the receptionist said that he got nothing for me and there was also no message left.
So I dont have P739 card now. It probably because the receptionist wasn't there at that moment. I have asked the seller. He said that he had asked the postmaster in the USA, the reason I didn't get any P739 card was because they couldn't find my address. It's weird because I never have problem before. I bought lots of things from amazon and it was fine.
So, what should I do now? Can I collect it by myself without P739?
I'm new in the UK so I don't really familiar with the system here.
Thanks
