Delays at North West Distribution Centre

Post by poppycat »

I have been waiting on eight Christmas presents which I purchased from Amazon on the 6th of December. A seperate item that I ordered from Amazon arrived very soon after the order was placed but eight of the items have been held up (not waiting for a complete order). They have been at the North West Distribution Centre since the 16th of December, I'm getting a little anxious now as they are Christmas presents for my husband and I can't buy them anywhere else.

I came home to two parcels today, one which I ordered only two nights ago and an Amazon delivery for my neighbour (thank you post man/woman for letting us take in our neighbours parcel they were most appreciative).

I found this forum after doing a google search for delays at Royal Mail North West Distribution Centre and have posted to offer support to those who are in the same position as me.

I understand the weather has been bad and would like to point out that I have never experienced delays before - my fingers are crossed for the parcel to arrive by or on the 24th of December which I'm sure it will!! PMA PMA

Think you postmen and women are doing a terrific job, it must be manic atm!!

Merry Christmas!!

Thank you Poppy. :wave
Dont give up on the Amazon tracked. After seeing all the snow on Sunday and reading weather reports I was expecting
to go into work to find very little had moved but somehow they managed to find a way to bring a massive amount
of mail including hundreds of tracked parcels from Amazon to our delivery office.
We used to get on average 20-30 tracked in our small office but at the moment we are getting between
175 - 300 per day.
Our nightshift is in earlier tonight because they are expecting another huge amount of mail through the night.
We, the posties, have never seen so many parcels & packets coming through the post.

All the best.
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

Also the tracking information on the Royal Mail website is more up to date than on the Amazon website so Amazon aren't updating their website as often. I've got some that appear stuck at national distribution centre on the amazon page but when I use the Royal Mail trace page it shows the package has moved on from there to my regional centre.

I ordered an item from Amazon on 8th December. Delivery estimate was stated as 13-15 December. It is now 22nd December and it has still not arrived. According to tracking information, it "arrived at North West Distribution Centre on the 2010-12-19 and we are currently processing it". Delivery to my home in Essex in time for Christmas looks increasingly unlikely. Does anyone know how the North West centre is progressing with processing the volume of mail it must currently be handling? Happy Christmas to everyone!

Hello all. I too found this site by trying to track my parcel from Amazon and finding it stuck in the North West Distribution centre where it has been since 17/12. It is nice to hear I am not the only one in this situation and I have not given up hope of getting my parcel in time for Christmas.

Thankyou to all the posties as I know that you are all working very hard to try and clear the backlogs. Have a great Christmas.

24/12 I have just taken receiot of my parcel. Thanks very much.

Is anything moving from the centre. Is it a case of last parcel in first one out. I am waiting for a parcel to be moved to the Leigh Delivery office. Anything moving. The posty has always worked hard and delivered promptly and generally with a smile, but he can't deliver if it doesn't arrive in Leigh.
Happy Christmas to all. :dance :Applause

Please read the stickies as it has info on tracked items.
Please also note that the chances of your item being stuck at a Distribution Centre are small,or at least very unlikely.

Please also note we are not an official Royal Mail site.

I am in East London & also waiting for a parcel from Amazon stuck at the North west Distribution Centre. Ordered on the 12th using Super Saver (which according to Amazon would be delivered in time for Christmas). It was dispatched on 13th, with estimated arrival on 15th.

I have just checked with Amazon on it's progress. It was collected from their fulfillment centre at Gourock, Inverclyde on 13th & was scanned in to the North West Distribution Centre on 18th, & is still there. I have double checked the tracking number with Royal Mail's website & it shows the same.

I realise that the guys at the distribution centre have a huge backlog to deal with, my gripe is with Amazon. It's all very well telling their customers about delays in sending items to Scotland, but why on Earth didn't they give the same warnings about items being delivered from Scotland? I had no idea that my items (3 books & 1 DVD) were going to be sent from Gourock until I looked at the tracking info. If I had known I would have got them from somewhere else.

There's still 2 days left, but I don't hold out much hope.

East London? Well the weather has got warmer so the conditions are a bit(little bit) better, chances are those offices over there will be on one last big push to clear the offices out.

Hi all, like many here I found this thread after searching for my missing Amazon parcel.

I ordered gifts from Amazon on 6th Dec with estimated delivery on 10th december. One item was for my Mum's birthday on 13th Dec. Items were booked in at Gourock, Inverclyde on 8th Dec and stayed there until 18th Dec when they arrived at the Northwest Distribution Centre, Hurrah I thought, should be a breeze to get from Warrington to Salford, it's only 10 miles down the M62! But no it is still sitting there and I have little hope now of seeing it before christmas.

As Jim57 pointed out, I would have thought twice if I had known that the items were coming from Scotland. May be something for Amazon to work on for the future.
Does anyone know if I can collect from the distribution centre?

Can't colect for the DC,it's probably not there anyway,it's moved down the pipeline but just hasn't been tracked.
Sorry it's just a case of waiting i'm afraid as frustrating as it is.

Similar story here, ordered from Amazon on the 6th December, came from Inverclyde (like a previous poster said, had I known that, I would have ordered from somewhere else!!) and it's been stuck at the North West Distribution centre since the 17th, I have no gripe with my postman, he's lovely and hangs on to parcels if he knows I'm going to be out (rural living, community spirit is alive), amazon should have stated they couldn't guarantee delivery for Christmas, but ordering on the 6th December, I thought was plenty of time! Fingers crossed Royal Mail get it here in time, or I'm going to have a very disappointed husband!

I too am waiting on Xmas presents from Amazon which I ordered on 3rd December as I don't like leaving it to the last minute. Unfortunately I made a big mistake by being organised as my parcels have 'gone awry' (Amazon's words), the last message is that it is in the North West Distribution Centre. They started off in Gourock on 5th December and then 13 days later (18th) were scanned in to the North West Distribution Centre and there has been no further information. Having complained to Amazon they said they would send out replacements which they did (minus one of the items ordered for some reason??) on the 18th and on 20th the parcel moved to Kettering Northants. Amazon also sent an email saying that anything ordered after 18th is unlikely to be delivered before Xmas- so why send the replacement on the 18th? I understand the weather is bad but can anyone explain why my daughter-in-law and my son both ordered parcels each last week (on Tuesday and Wednesday) and have had all their items delivered to them- 10 miles from where I live? Now I'm in a position of waiting for 2 almost identical parcels (one with an item missing) with my partners Xmas presents and not knowing if one or the other or neither will arrive in time. I will give serious thought to ordering from Amazon again as other sellers have managed to get their parcels out to me and my family in time.... :evil/mad
