Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
I placed an Amazon order & its been in YDC apparently since the 5th of December, with no change to the tracking status since that time, likewise when i called the track & trace phone number the guy apologised & said it should be sent out soon. I live in Lanarkshire, Scotland - I know there are some genuine reasons why some deliveries to remote parts of Scotland are effected but i live in central scotland, 5 miles from Lanark sorting office, which has had very little snow in the last 10 days.
I suspect that because my order was in YDC when the bad snow hit, my order has been stuck in a cage somewhere & forgoten about. I could be wrong though and i'm not having a go at the posties whom i have a great deal of respect for, i've just gotten to the point where my patience has run out and i think the weather has become a rather convenient excuse rather than a reason.
Can any of you good people shed some light on this please?

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
Hi,
Same problem as majority and my grudge is with Royal Mail management....not posties
Order from BT been in YDC since 14th Dec.
I am getting frustrated by not actually getting to speak to anyone at Royal Mail.....usual highly paid managers, hide when problems occur.....managers (in all walks of life) really do not take rersponsibilty anymore.
The disgraceful thing is I know a postie and he tells me they are under instruction to sort/deliver the current mail coming into the centre as Royal Mail have targets for processing mail......seeing as the delayed mail like mine and others have failed....they have merely been ringfenced away and are not seen as prioroty as they have already failed. It's all about achieving KPI's (key preformanve indicators) for managers as these are linked to bonuses.......bloody terrible way to operate.
I for one will be finding out if there is some regulatory body I can complain too and would urge everyone else to do likewise

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
Please note THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL CUSTOMER NOTICE.
With regards to the 1st bout of bad weather.
If you are having problems with a Royal Mail Tracked/Track and Trace item and it shows that is is either at a RDC(Regional Distribution Centre)or MC (Mail Centre) and it shows that it has been there for some time, then please note that the chances are it is not stuck there and that it has moved on but because of the weather previously, the current backlog and the extra xmas post it has not been updated on Royal Mail systems.
Although this is unofficial we are getting reports from front line posties that because of the huge backlog caused,a lot of the stuff has not been scanned in on parts of it's route which it should be,this is the main reason for the confusion/lack of information on Royal Mail's system.
There 'may' be occasions where the item is in the delivery office and has not been scanned yet as some offices still have a backlog.
Although not much help, most of the mail delayed due to the 1st bout of bad weather is probably ready or near ready to be delivered.
But now unfortunately we have a 2nd bout of bad weather which will slow things down again.
It is just a case of waiting.
Normal packets would be the same apart from the 'scanning' part, but weather permitting extra man hrs are being put in to clear them in some places.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
I will back up what POSTMAN said.
Our Tracked items have not been scanned into our D.O. for a few days as we simply don't have the time at the moment so they will still show up on the track&trace as being at the Mailcentre.
They are however going straight out on delivery and this will not effect the time it takes to deliver them.

post is getting worse instead of better i dont blame it all on the post men!!!
its the big fat cats at royal mail who think that changing routes & the way post is deliverd @ christmas times of all times
is a good thing!!
Then blame the weather which i dare say has not helpped post men in there deliveries but the problem is in the sorting

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
same problem amazon dispatched item 6th Dec, scanned in to Yorkshire distribution center 7th Dec, no movement since i have contacted royal mail they will answer my email in the next five days.... I go away for Xmas on the 22nd 4 days time yippee! contacted amazon they told me to wait till the 20th if i have not received it by then they will give me a refund!!! it still doesn't give me my 8yr old grandsons present, and that's where I'm going for Christmas!! i have then one day to go and buy him the same present before i go away, but amazon will not be able to refund the money immediately paying for same present twice if i can get it and it has not sold out, very frustrated about not getting honest answers from people, why is everyone saying it will be arriving 2-3 days late, my package is now 9 days over estimated date and seemingly stuck in yorkshire for last 12 days

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
Am still waiting on Amazon items but am also waiting on other items as well.
Received a tracked item on Friday from Amazon that had been placed on the 5th.
Ordered 2 items from Amazon on Thursday night using special delivery.
One item has been despatched on Friday and received Saturday.
Other item not despatched yet.
As a postie, I would like to say to customers waiting that Royal Mail will do their utmost
to get the items to you in time for Xmas. I dont know what their policy at distribution centres
is, whether it's first one in, first one out or first one in, last one out but they will still go
to tremendous efforts to get all items out.
I blame a combination of bad weather, a huge increase in Amazon ordering due to bad weather
and a staff count at Royal Mail & Amazon that is based on previous years online ordering amount
that is being inundated by millions more than either companies expected.

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
Quick update, my package which left Bedfordshire on its way to Brighton on the 10th of December is still showing on the Track and Trace as being at Yorkshire Distribution Centre, where it has been since the 10th.
I emailed the Just Say It address on Friday - had an automated response on the same day, nothing since.
Does anyone here know what is happening at YDC?

10th of December
It will NOT be at YDC,please see my earlier post on this page.
It has probably been moved on and not scanned and is in a backlog, maybe at the delivery office or the mail centre.

Well, so long as we get days like today - no snow in Brighton and no deliveries either, I suppose it'll just stay wherever it is.POSTMAN wrote:10th of December

My apologies - we have just had a delivery of TNT and UK Mail, all bills. No Royal Mail items for any of the flats.

These are delivered by Royal Mail. There likely wasn't any other mail for you in the office or it would have arrived together.DuncanHill wrote:My apologies - we have just had a delivery of TNT and UK Mail, all bills. No Royal Mail items for any of the flats.

I know they're delivered together. I just find it odd that they are just about all that's getting through.adb2aber wrote:These are delivered by Royal Mail. There are 7 flats in my block, all the post comes in together. In the last 2 weeks there's been only three items of Royal Mail delivered for all of them. Normally there'll be 2 or 3 a day.
As a matter of interest, what route would something going from Bedford to Brighton be expected to take after leaving the Yorkshire Distribution Centre? Aberdeen? Cardiff? Penzance?

Re: ? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre
At this time of the year and with the closure of mail centres across the country all 3 are quite possible as are many more. We have had stories on here of mail from scotland being moved down to London (and other) MCs for sorting and then taken back to scotland. Although this wont be a good answer for you it is unfortunately the current management who has inspired or perhaps instigated a better word, this state of affiars.DuncanHill wrote:I know they're delivered together.
