LaLa, I doubt they would give you your packet if you turn up, it has to be sorted up first and if you speak to the counter staff the way you've spoken to us they won't want to put themselves out to help you
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

Re: Delays at South West Distribution Centre?
I have been waiting for something from Amazon since it was despatched on the 6th and been stuck in Warrington since the 8th. However, as much as I've been lurking on these forums for "extra info" I refuse to blame the everyday postie for this cock up and hopefully anyone can realise it's the shoddy and poisoned management that causes a problem. As an aside I received a replacement for another item from Amazon at 750am Thursday morning so things are deffo getting through and I was shocked to see a postie at that hour. I doubt that I will get my parcel now as there's a foot of snow outside in Liverpool (very unusual here) but there's no point in getting a replacement either due to the snow as it'd never get here anyway before xmas!
Keep your chin up posties. Our regular one will be getting a fiver tip off us :).
I hope you guys get everything sorted soon.

Re: Delays at South West Distribution Centre?
I am also still waiting for two packages from Amazon. The first, which I ordered at the very start of December was supposed to be with me on 7th December and still has not arrived, apparently it is at the South West Distribution Centre. The second was also ordered at the very start of December but was only despatched on 10th with an estimated delivery date of 16th - this has also not arrived.
As mentioned by other users above, I have ordered with other companies online and received the packages within a few days. It would be useful to get confirmation from Royal Mail as to whether these delays are really due to bad weather or whether there is a dispute occuring between them and Amazon.
I am due to fly out of the UK on Monday for the Christmas break so unfortunately some family members will not be getting their presents.

Re: Delays at South West Distribution Centre?
Hi All
Like all others that have posted my Amazon Track & Trace item seems to have fallen into the great, deep and dark abyss that is the RM SWDC at Bristol. My one and only T&T quote reads
"13 Dec 2010 02:56:38 PM South West Distribution Centre Arrival Scan"
I ditto all other comments made by others but would add I saw a piece on breakfast TV recently with a lady who was providing expert comment on these kind of delays. Interestingly she confirmed that legally the contract we ALL have regards our ordered items is with Amazon and NOT Royal Mail so it is Amazon who are liable to sort the problem and provide compensation IN FULL if the item never arrives. There was no clear time limit given as to when an item is considered to be LOST and hence you can claim but it is Amazon's responsibility and this is part of the Distance Selling Regulations apparently. Hope this helps should we never get our Christmas presents and need to claim. If RM do have a problem then it is Amazons responsibility to sort with THEM not ours.
Merry Christmas and here's to enjoying the other presents we have ordered from everywhere else BAR Amazon!!!!!!

Amazon have re-ordered all our toys, and set a refund in motion for the 2 items out of stock. Sadly the 2 items out of stock now are out of stock all over the UK too, and were longed-for Christmas presents for 2 under 5s. They are not greedy children, and I just hope they don't remember what they asked Santa for!

Re: Delays at South West Distribution Centre?
The good news for me is that my parcel arrived at the SWDC on Dec 8th and left within 24 hours.
The bad news for me is that it went from there to the north-west, and then on to the National DC (Northants?). Still waiting for it.
It must have passed within half an hour of my front door on at least two occasions now. And if it doesn't move soon, I'll drive past it it on my way to apologise to my parents on Christmas Eve for not having their presents. Very frustrating!
Here's my tracking info from Amazon:
17 Dec 2010 09:18:14 PM National Distribution Centre Arrival Scan
15 Dec 2010 04:31:07 PM North West Distribution Centre Arrival Scan
9 Dec 2010 12:37:00 PM South West Distribution Centre Arrival Scan
8 Dec 2010 01:02:37 PM Crymlyn Burrows Swansea UK Order has been handed over to the carrier and is in transit

Re: Delays at South West Distribution Centre?
Hmmmm, so lets review the facts. The public can order something with an online retailer, who duly ship in time, and the bottleneck appears to be RM's distribution. Understandably, some of those folks expecting the goods THEY PAID FOR in a REASONABLE DELIVERY TIME (even allowing for the weather) get a bit narked, and most raise their concerns on here in a structured and respectful manner (aside from idiots wanting to sort it with their fists).Stormproof wrote:Makes me laugh, people throwing their toys out of their pram. Its the postmans fault its snowing, its the postmans fault I was too lazy to go into town.....blah, blah, blah!. They arn't even worthy of a decent reply.
I dont call that "throwing the toys out of the pram"! That is a typical knee-jerk reaction from someone who knows the criticism is due and coming their way. I do hope you can find my parcel and get it moving, Stormproof. It still says its at SWDC and has been since the 6th.
I've just also emailed Amazon and told them to cancel my order, refund me, and see if they have more joy in getting it back from SWDC than I have in getting it moving towards me. I doubt neither Amazon or I will ever see the hard disk drive again.

Re: Delays at South West Distribution Centre?
Let us review the facts - we, as posties, are doing our best to get things through but we are prevented because of management (if we go out in this weather and fall and injure ourselves then we will probably be sacked, if we take a van out and crash the van then we will be sacked) and this is also a problem with RM cutting jobs until this was bound to happen, Amazon also have some responsibility in this disaster by making promises that they know they couldn't keep. You say you've cancelled your orderRTR wrote:Hmmmm, so lets review the facts. Are you going to send the 'doubles' back and the refund money?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

What makes you believe that a Delivery Officer who doesn't even work in the unit that your parcel is allegedly stuck is a legitimate target for criticism?RTR wrote:

If the manager in your local bank screwed up and took all of the money out of your account would you feel justified in criticizing every employee of every branch of that bank right down to the cleaners?
If Royal Mail management have screwed up by not resourcing the issue properly....take it out on them.
They are very highly paid to make the decisions that affect you...we are just paid to deliver what is put in front of us...which we have been doing.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: Delays at South West Distribution Centre?
The reports of tracked packages progressing without being scanned appear to be true.
I had an Amazon package that was showing as stuck at SWDC since 13th December. Today it has gone straight to "Out for delivery" from my local DO.
So don't give up hope!
