Hi guys, I was just wondering if there is an ETA on the parcels here? the Arrival Scan - Dec 06, 2010 7:51:14 PM according to the tracker. Will I get my Christmas item? Also wondering the location of the place, how far away it is from Sheffield.
A more recent item I ordered seemed to bypass this distro centre altogether and quickly ended up at the Yorkshire centre.
I assume that new packages are going through and the backlog items are just being stored until such a time when management quit sitting on their thumbs... am I correct?
I don't wish to come across as being nasty about it, so I apolagise if I sound rude. But hopefully you can see from the customers perspective, and how angry we all are.
Can't you get DHL to help with the backlog or something? parcel force is royal mail isn't it? can't they help?
RM has been paid for a service that it clearly isn't providing.

Re: National Distribution Centre
Please note THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL CUSTOMER NOTICE.
With regards to the 1st bout of bad weather.
If you are having problems with a Royal Mail Tracked/Track and Trace item and it shows that is is either at a RDC(Regional Distribution Centre)or MC (Mail Centre) and it shows that it has been there for some time, then please note that the chances are it is not stuck there and that it has moved on but because of the weather previously, the current backlog and the extra xmas post it has not been updated on Royal Mail systems.
Although this is unofficial we are getting reports from front line posties that because of the huge backlog caused,a lot of the stuff has not been scanned in on parts of it's route which it should be,this is the main reason for the confusion/lack of information on Royal Mail's system.
There 'may' be occasions where the item is in the delivery office and has not been scanned yet as some offices still have a backlog.
Although not much help, most of the mail delayed due to the 1st bout of bad weather is probably ready or near ready to be delivered.
But now unfortunately we have a 2nd bout of bad weather which will slow things down again.
It is just a case of waiting.
Normal packets would be the same apart from the 'scanning' part, but weather permitting extra man hrs are being put in to clear them in some places.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Great, pre typed responses instead of actually helping. About the usual level of service expected from RM.

I think you may have stumbled onto the wrong site mate.JustinSane wrote:Great, pre typed responses instead of actually helping. About the usual level of service expected from RM.
This is not an official Royal Mail site...it says so on the home page.
Now we don't mind helping customers where we can....if they treat us with just a little respect. We have no affiliation with either Royal Mail or the Communications Workers Union (CWU), except that most of our members work for Royal Mail and/or are members of the CWU.

You need to address your concerns to RM management (and in this case God for the snow) because we are just lowly posties and we don't make the decisions to cut the service to the bone and not give us the resources needed to actually complete the job.JustinSane wrote:Great, pre typed responses instead of actually helping. I've been working my arse off lately doing 10-12h days to clear the backlog we had, an when you get ignorant sods like him coming on moaning you wonder why you bother, all firms are struggling, took citylink 10 extra days to delver my parcel i was waiting for, so we are all in the same boat.

re getting mail out
I have had lots of customers swearing at me over my phone line , they all seem to think we are responsible for the snow ,ice and will not understand that while they sit at home in the warm shouting abuse down the phone line we are actually doing our utmost to get mail out , but then i know what our custs will say to that something along the lines of what rot,how ridiculous, you all lie to cover up problems, and nothing i say or do to help custs is ever good enough these days and why are they all so aggresive etc etc bring on privatisation and let the moaners pay more power to postie and cust servs

If you can't accept free advice offered by hard-working employees, many of whom are pushing themselves above and beyond the call of duty to help clear a backlog caused by events and circumstances not at all of their own making, then why bother coming on here in the first place?JustinSane wrote:Great, pre typed responses instead of actually helping. Don't forget that whilst many of us are RM employees, anyone who responds to you in this thread is doing so in their own time for YOUR benefit, rather than theirs. I think it says a great deal for some of us that there is even a 'CUSTOMERS' section on this website to enable us to provide advice and information.

In my area DHL can't deliver their own packets and parcels. So what hope have they of delivering ours.

Re: National Distribution Centre
I have done most of my shopping this Christmas by online routes. I am therefore pretty much dependent on Royal Mail. I must be honest, I am amazed by the fabulous service I have received to date, given the appalling weather, and the fact that I am too wimpy to go out. The posties have been out each and very day to bring us our post and parcels, and I am very grateful to them.
I do have a parcel for my daughter which seems to have been all over, currently showing as being at NDC, and she may miss her Christmas present. But come on, let's say thanks, not whine about something totally out of their control.

Re: National Distribution Centre
Thanks for the update Postman.
It's unfortunate about the large backlog, but at least we now know that missing parcels are in it somewhere even if the tracking information is not up to date.
I'll deliver my cards with an IOU note in them this year
.
Merry Christmas to you all.
