? Delays in Yorkshire Distribution Centre

Post by Marrge »

Can anyone tell me when a parcel which was received in the Yorkshire Distribution Centre on 5/12/10 is likely to be released for delivery? The Trace and Track shows it as being processed but that has been the status for the last week. I know the weather has been horrendous - has the centre been totally cut-off? Royal Mail customer services unable to help, referred me to sender, who referred me back to Royal Mail. Looks like it's my problem.

YDC has been clearing, the problem you have is in the Mail Centre's and local delivery offices, most have been stacked out with packets and tracked. In our Mail Centre last week the tracked items were up to the roof.

Your item will be long away from YDC but could either be stuck in the Mail Centre or Delivery Office.

Hope this helps.

You're wrong about YDC clearing - an RDC has just been set up in Hull to seg all the cages from YDC... :hmmmm :hmmmm

In the same boat, track & trace stops at yorkshire distribution centre 5 days ago!!

The weather isnt the problem, Royal Mail and its lazy employees are. A bit of snow and the country grinds to a halt.... it doesnt happen in sweden or finland and they are sub zero all winter long..

cant describe how much of a Joke the UK postal service is at the moment

I don't work in YDC but I do work in Huddersfield who are part of the pipeline for YDC and Mail Centres around Yorkshire.

As far as I know the Track and Trace system is not being updated but we have not been informed of this officially, or even told why but I am guessing its to try and get things through the system quicker.

Hull was affected the worst and they should be getting up to date this week, some of their staff were out delivering on Sunday. Sheffield and some parts of Derbyshire were also badly affected and they are doing the same as Hull. Dewsbury has been affected by a new delivery system and to a lesser degree by the weather and they are also working hard to get everything sorted.

I cant give you any specific news even if I knew the area you are in but I am CERTAIN about one thins, a lot of Posties are working long and hard to try and get everything sorted for all of our customers and would only ask that you please bear with us. The weather has hit us harder than usual, and management have decided to introduce new delivery methods at the busiest time of the year but we are trying our utmost I assure you.

He's probably someone who just drives to work and then home again and doesn't have to walk for 5 hours in conditions that Ranulph Fiennes would think twice about...............and remember the old saying 'before you critisize someone you should walk a mile in their shoes, that way you'll be a mile away and have their shoes  '

Amazon says
:cuppa
Track your package

Date Time Location Event Details
7 Dec 2010 10:51:26 AM Yorkshire Distribution Centre Arrival Scan
6 Dec 2010 11:35:58 AM --- Order has been handed over to the carrier and is in transit

Estimated Arrival: 8 Dec 2010

It's the 14th December....the tracking status does not update.......if I phone the Customer Service number all I appear to be able to do is loop around an electronic answering system....(which hilariously is only available in office hours......erm isn't the whole point of having an electronic call system so that people can get info after hours???).....so basically I can't speak to anybody....so instead I've come here to RoyalMailChat (which doesn't appear to be officially part of Royal Mail) ......not with malicious intent or anger......but hopefully to provide myself with some therapy by highlighting the current lack of service that I am experiencing.

In any service industry the one thing that will really annoy your customers is the failure to provide any information. Royal Mail has spent (and no doubt continues to spend) money on a website .....parcel tracking systems....and an automated phone answering system (in the case of the latter chosing to save money over the presumed expense of having real people in strange exotic locations answering calls ......or perhaps this isn't money saving at all as real people wouldn't have an answer for a customer anyway). :no no

The recorded message that states "Due to the bad weather" is not information. A message on the website that says "If the Tracking system indicates that arrival at YDC was on 07/12/10 please allow 10 working days for delivery"....would be information........or a message that says "Your parcel is unlikely to be delivered before Christmas" is information...........it might not be the information I want to hear.....but it might allow me to make my own constructive choice about what I do regarding an important Christmas present. :evil/mad

...but no......instead I am left at the virtual luggage carousel........waiting for something that Amazon didn't bother to make clear was coming from Luxembourg.......which largely explains my first few words when I tracked my parcel considering that Amazon is just down the road from where I live........just to rub it in something else I ordered from Amazon 2 nights ago has already arrived.

I'm not sure that my therapy is working.....although the 'Smilies' of Cameron, Clegg and Cable....have cheered me up a little.

Please please please....does anybody know how much longer I'll have to wait for my parcel to be delivered to Northampton? My local postal service is honestly very good ......the delay is not local. :Boo hoo!

I hold no grudge against the good people of Yorkshire...(although I did laugh during Monty Python's Meaning of Life)............(In a Brian Blessed voice)...."Yorkshire Men and Women of the YDC......bring me your mail and I will sort it for you". :chuckle

same problem as everyone else.

amazon order, expected delivery 10th December.

Arrived YDC on 8th December and that's the last ive heard of it.

The Royal Mail phoneline is a disgrace. whatever options you press its impossible to speak to anyone and find out any information.

I suggest everyone who is having problems and has ordered from Amazon get in touch with amazon and suggest they use alternative postal services. every time its royal mail there's an issue.

nice! why not just describe us all as lazy when your item hasn't even reached us to try yet! If it hasn't got to our delivery office we can't get it to you much as we would like to!

it is very insulting to all the posties that are busting their balls to get everything we have out to you

If it isn't with us we can't deliver it

tempted to say if sweden and finland manage it then move there but I'm far to polite

for gods sake give us a break most of us are working 7 days a week to get everything to our customers

rant over!

Hi guys...

Sorry to continue to go over the same thing... Another Amazon order "stuck" since 8th of December.

Not blaming anyone, its a crazy time of year, more concerned with if its possible my expensive package will have been stuck there or indeed lost somewhere along the way, in which case I will have to go back to Amazon.

Any news/insight from anyone who knows the systems would be great.

Cheers... and Merry Xmas :)

The absolutely hilarious thing is I am an Admin of Royal Mail Chat (which is independent of RM (in fact word is they don't like us and sometimes we upset the CWU as well) :left: :left: ) - and I have an order with Amazon in fact 3

one dispatched 3 Dec 2010 - Received

second dispatched 8 Dec 2010 - Not yet received.

Third dispatched 9 Dec 2010 - Not yet received.

But I had an order for T shirts from an Independant site I made on Monday (13th) - arrived recorded today :hmmmm :hmmmm :hmmmm

And yes being in Huddersfield it would pass through the same pipeline as above posters

Maybe the two Amazon orders that you have't had yet got sent out from their Glasgow site and the other from either their Swansea or their Milton Keynes site. TBT, were all three sent out RM?

Yep I had 4 others (3 city link and 1 DHL) all ordered around same time all arrived OK. TBH being in the job I know how busy it is around this time and I am not to concerned, they'll turn up when they turn up. If they dont then I'll quote "Distance selling regulations" and get replacements. :Very Happy
