Tend to stop at about 10 per week - was told that after 10 the rate goes back to "normal time" ...

My office doesnt let people work sundays, as that would mean paying overtime, and we havent done that for about 7 years :left:

He does let people start an hour early to do ips though, and then when theyve done 40 mornings he gives them a week off :left:
As far as i know there is no agreement for banking hours, but to do overtime for basic pay ............ mugs

You're already at "normal" time until you've completed 40/39 hours................you'd get an enhanced rate from 40 to 50.

I can! It would be when the union was negotiating hours for christmas pressure and each person got 2 hours per day GUARANTEED and we were already on a 42 hour week over 6 days .......so that would be 54 hours at enhanced rates ................not that I worked those hours you understand but I certainly got paid for them......those were the days. There was never a letter or parcel left unsorted or undelivered throughout...................mind we have progressed since then

I see what your saying, but times have changed, management are being more forceful on its employees to get the job finished on time, but in the real world it doesn't happen like that. I live within my means and don't rely on the overtime as much i used to.

Overtime is optional, but sometimes i think management want people to do overtime on a compulsory basis.

Now this is a tricky point because i happen to know that BT CWU members are having a real fight over contractual overtime due to the severe weather.
They have a clause in their contract basically forcing them to work a set amount of compulsory overtime during periods of major disruption such as we are experiencing now....obviously management are enforcing this with glee.

I wonder how long before such an idea forms in the minds of a newly privatised Royal Mail. :cuppa

I went in today to clear my packet back log. Although my job has been over loaded in our recent revision, the majority of the back log was caused by the snow on this occasion, so I was happy to go in. I know the o/t rate is crap now, but even so, the £70 (less deductions) I've trousered today will be quite welcome, just before Christmas.
