Persistent posting to wrong address!!
I am constantly stunned by the delivery of our mail to an address around the corner because the postman is either too lazy to deliver or he can't read or he has not had training with the streets ?? This happens everytime their is a new postman on the route !! Another problem exists in that the house that they deliver our mail too is rarely inhabited ,and when it is ,the lady cannot be bothered to deliver ??? I have lost cheques and very important financial information in the 9 years we have lived here . We have complained on numerous occassions without anybody listening . For us the Royal Mail service has descended into a joke institution which has been led over the recent years by overpaid and incompetent figureheads !!! :lfo

You're right about the overpaid and incompetent figureheads!
There can be many reasons why your mail is being constantly delivered to the wrong address. Especially when a new postie is trying to learn a new round. Why does it always get delivered to the same house around the corner though? Is the entrance to your house actually on the corner of the next street or something? I think because your mail keeps going to the same house by mistake there must be a confusion between your house and theirs. like the same number or or street name sounding similar? Inform the local delivery office should prove to correct the problem.

Just cut down your post to the most pertinent matters - RM at the moment believes that with absolutley no training beyond a 2 day induction at the start of your job, that anyone can do any route with no problems and without claiming overtime. Your address is obviously one of those, like many on mine, that you need local knowledge to deliver too.williamina15 wrote:I am constantly stunned by the delivery of our mail to an address around the corner - he has not had training with the streets ?? I don't know your address but one thing that may help alleviate the problem is placing a sign on the entrance to your property indicating which way to go (if its a long drive or shared building etc). Or you could write a letter to the Delivery Office Manager explaining the problems and giving directions to the property. She/He should then include these direction in the walk log and this should help.
I hope it gets sorted.

Re: Persistent posting to wrong address!!
Please also be aware that the postman is not just shoving it through any letterbox. When holding your letters and standing outside your house it is difficult to imaging how you could make such a mistake but after reading a random mix of several thousand numbers and street names, then sorting your own 1500 letters to 500 houses and then after nearly 4 hours of that carrying 10 stone of mail around a 6 mile stop and start trek in all weathers to deliver over a quarter of a million letters per year to an unrealistic deadline then, it becomes very easy to lapse your concentration for a couple of seconds and assume that for example the last house you can see must be number 1.
I'm not making excuses but I am saying that even 99.99% accurate is still a few mistakes per day and you seem to get more than your fair share. If you don't get any joy with 'bringing the problem to Royal Mails attention' then try taking a step back and seeing for yourself why the mistake is really being made, you may be able to fix it easily.

I can see more of this happening with the trolley deliveries.
Less time to flick through means more mistakes.

Re: Persistent posting to wrong address!!
I feel sorry for anybody having problems with The Royal Mail. The service is an absoloute joke. My postman doesn't even bother knocking the door now because I used to leave for work early in the morning, he thinks I'm not going to be in. I'm forever going to the post office centre to pick up small packages that won't quite fit through the letterbox, but even though they don't need signatures, he won't leave them, simply because he can't be bothered to open the large box by the side of my door.
The post office ? Waste of time!! When they all lose their jobs and the service is completely obliterated, then they will complain. Like all of our institutions are becoming, Lazy, Unreliable, Scruffy and adopt an 'I don't care attitude'

Funny isn't it people will always break the rules and take a chance of loosing their job as a postie especially for those that call us, lazy, unreliable and scruffy. You really want to go that extra mile for them.BELIAL wrote:Karma ?

Not allowed to leave packets unless you request it to a royal mail manager, if he leaves it and it goes missing he could lose his job.

Q. I'm forever going to the post office centre to pick up small packages that won't quite fit through the letterbox
A. Get a bigger letterbox, don't order so much or use a courier then you can travel 50 miles to collect your stuff..........simples

That tends to happen if you order a lot of packets but you are out most of the day.

Small items are the same as large items. If they don't fit through letterbox they don't fit through letterbox.mailuserworcs wrote:I feel sorry for anybody having problems with The Royal Mail. It is not that he can't be bothered to open your (unsecure box) , he's protecting your mail.
Believe me he will have knocked on your door. It's far quicker to get you to answer than stand filling out a 739 card.
Hope you apologise for your comments in you next post.

I wouldn't hold your breath...it wouldn't matter if you turned up at some people's door with their mail freshly ironed on a silver plate....they would still complain.baleout wrote: Hope you apologise for your comments in you next post.
It keeps the paid help in their place...the scruffy, lazy oik's..
Not half as much as the customers will squeal when TNT gives you mail 3 times a week if you're lucky and HDNL start throwing your precious small packets from the van door in the general direction of your house.mailuserworcs wrote:

The staff at least can get another job...the customers will get,in some cases exactly what they deserve...not a lot.
