Royal Mail best service in the UK

Post by Alanhaye »

I'd just like to say a massive thank you to all the hard working staff at Royal Mail, you guys get way to much stick from people determined to moan. I have bought something off of amazon, and need it for an exam tomorrow, so i needed to pay for the next day delivery, fair enough, i thought that it would come with Royal mail be here by 1pm brilliant. Oh no... it came with citylink... for some reason amazon sent a small textbook with citylink. i had to call amazon twice as the item had been tracked in kettering hundreds of miles away from me in Perth. the item finally arrived at 1645 from a guy who looked like he had just walked in from the pub. no uniform, no branded van. You guys provide a service to everyone which these fly by night couriers wish they could offer.

a big THANK YOU for all the hard work that you do every day and that you are about to do for us customers to ensure that we get our christmas presants in time for the big day!

Rant over :Very Happy

Hello Customer,

Thank you for your input. Royal Mail have noted the 1645 delivery time of your item, and aim to lower their service as much as possible to meet this target within two years. To meet this ambition, we intend to reduce staffing numbers, introduce more hare-brained schemes, and cover more and more walks on overtime.

Please bear with us whilst these changes are implemented.

It's good and rewarding when people say this about us, it's a shame Royal Mail themselves are starting to make it impossible for us to maintain our high standard of service.

We can only apologise to all our customers for the shambles this Christmas but we have done our best. What other company would bring in such radical changes just prior to the busiest period of the year. You, the customers have been let down badly by RM management who are too quick to blame the weather. I have worked in far worse weather conditions in my 37 years as a postman but still we managed to clear everything in time for the festive season. Nowadays we are under so much pressure with new working methods that aren't working but we do our best. The new walks are far too long and the deadlines we have to meet are impossible. At least us posties care about the customers. Let's hope we can sort things out and make the postal service great again. Best wishes to all our customers.

To True Blue Terrier

I started a post over the christmas period, I am a Royal Mail account holder, I don't remember anyone acknowledging the mess on my posts???

I sell stuff online and have had 5 separate days mail during December each with at least 12days of block delays ( no items delivered at all ).
I am grateful for mickyplum having the courage of his convictions.

To put the other side, I bust a gut to get orders out, it looks like 5 separate days of Decembers was lying somewhere in a sorting office ( Newtown Birmingham ) for about 10days before entering the system, many customers didn't get their items. I have no idea who has and who has not, so I've got that to do, Freepost returns and refunds. Net conclusion, disappointed customers, a heavy work load at this time of year, then triple it and because of the mess extra administration and a net loss to boot, as well as a continuing loss in the form of lost goodwill gradually built up over 8 years and destroyed in a month, by a company who don't seem to be capable of issuing a press release to inform theirs and our customer of the problems. The only press information I saw was just before Christmas that " we are catching up". The result of this is that my company mail of the 23rd (5 days after the deadline) was delivered on the 24th, whilst much of the 8th, 10th, 13th and 14th didn't see the light of day until after Christmas.
Whilst Royal Mail kicks the can into my back yard.

So well done Royal Mail Management. ......same again next year????

Probably worse when/if we get privatised but dont worry, you'll get the chance to pay even more for it.
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

The cost I am paying at the moment is the total value of my business, ....you are making me more scared now, ........if it gets any more than that, I don't know where I am going to get the money from.

At the moment, primarily, we are a service. Good or bad service, that's up to the customer and recipient to decide but a privatised company will be
even more money orientated. RM will then have a board of directors who want some return for their investment and who will cut, cut & cut staff, duties and collections to save money.
That is only the beginning. They will continually challenge the government to reduce the USO for both deliveries & price. One day they WILL win :Sick

I think the service just went over the cliff this Christmas. Customers who have solidly supported against privatisation are now feeling we can't go on like this. I supported my postman when his round was extended and it was partly changed back but I don't see anyone prepared to pay back that support by doing their utmost to get stuff moving again at Christmas. It's all one way. You want customers' support, but to hell with their Xmas post.

The service can't get worse than it has been this last month. So next time you're on your own.
