Hi
We are a small family run business. We recently sent out a parcel to a customer by Royal Mail First class (I think it was on the 7 October). Today (20 Oct) the customer contacted us to say they had not received it and when she checked she gave us the right address but the wrong postcode. She gave us the post code L13 8 and It should have been L12 8. She didn't even get the last two letters right but I don't want to give the full postcode!
Will the parcel be delivered to the house number and postcode on the parcel or the 1st line of the address?
If it is delivered to the wrong post code address, who is laible? she provided us with the address so I'm hoping it's her.
Hope someone can help.

Re: Customer gave wrong postcode
The parcel would of been delivered to the L13 delivery office, from there it would of been 'returned to sender'.
Did you have a return address on it,if not it would of been sent to our Belfast return center where it would of been opened for clues as to where it's going or has come from.
Could it of been delivered to an address in L13,that is probably a non starter unless they happen to have the same street name at those 2 postcodes.
You could look for that on google maps to confirm.
And yes it's your customers fault for giving you the wrong postcode.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Customer gave wrong postcode
thank you for your prompt response, There doesn't seem to be the same address at the postcode she supplied and there was there was a return to sender label on there, so we might get it returned.
How long does it normally take to get returned? It was sent just over two weeks ago.

Re: Customer gave wrong postcode
If it was stickered unknown address by the postie it should be with you soon. But if you are lucky someone will recognise the road name being in L12 and sent it over there. Perhaps you customer should go into the local enquiry office and ask about it.

I think L 12 and L 13 may be delivered by the same delivery office so the wrong post code shouldn't be a problem

Re: Customer gave wrong postcode
" L13 8-- " is Liverpool South Eastern Delivery Office and " L12 8-- " is West Derby Delivery Office, so a delay of a day or two might be expected, but as "She didn't even get the last two letters right" can you be sure she got the house number and street name right too ? If not, and if there's no return address on it, then there might be little chance of it being delivered.

... and this one is 10 years. Perhaps if you described what happened in your own thread rather than asking for updates on old threads we may be able to advise you more specifically.
