Hours out and job losses?
In our office today, because of the revision word has it they are trying to take out 240 hours per week, which equates to 6 jobs going. Maybe 1 or 2 will take evr if offered but what happens to the other 4 members of staff if this goes ahead? Which four in an office gets the boot? How is it decided on who the unlucky 4 are, seniority etc?
Could anyone on here whos office has already undertaken their revions comment on this subject?
Cheers

L.I.F.O....(last in...first out)
Going by rumour(what else do we have?)...it's more likely that all 6 will be terminations.
VR in a D.O. is a rare thing indeed at the moment.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Sorry to burst your bubble bro, but LIFO finished years ago, its no longer allowed under EU law.fishtank wrote:L.I.F.O....(last in...first out)

All companies who are downsizing are now using the Matrix system, this allows the bosses to gives a points score against every employee for headings such as reliability, sickness, training undertaken etc.
As you can imagine if this applied in our place then RM would be looking to get rid of the less dependable of us first.

It might not have done previously fish, but with privatisation coming, not all job losses will be EVR, and LIFO will not be used for Compulsories

To a large extent, posties are contributing to their own downfall with the continued, and out-dated, obsession of early starts/early finishes!!!! My sympathies lie with local Reps having to fight local Managers with hollow arguments because posties choose to bury their heads and then blame the CWU when losses of hours, duties and jobs are incurred!

Yes I went through that after 20 plus years in another industry..What tends to happen is those with their heads up the arses of managers survive on an imaginary scoring system which rewards the best bottom feeders..!!! So its become a creeping back stabbing tosser and lose all dignity or end up as a part time postman...I know which I prefer...
...
Quite what the end result of an RM Matrix sweep would be I wouldnt have a clue...!!!

Was told about the MC closures in London on Friday.Only Mount Pleasant will survive going forward. This will create over 900 surplus staff,so God knowns whats going to happen next. If Royal Mail do use the matrix system, then a few of us long service guys are nearer the front door than we realised.
