Unfortunately BELIAL the union is not in a financial position to play fast and loose with the rules...and they know it.

If its Privatised or sold the new owners won't recognise any union full stop. we will have to work our hours, there may be a chance of not getting paid whilst we are off or on the sick, the bonuses will go, paid monthly will be in, me thinks it will be better in the long run, simple reason the new owners will want the job doing proper.. Labour Government and CWU were so close to each other it was un believable, now they are both doomed, not that i am a coalition in favour.

What a total prat! If it comes to industrial action this will be one of the most crucial strikes ever in RM. We should all support the CWU on this, as it's our
future we're talking about. There's bound to be dirty strike breakers who'll ignore the CWU, but what's new!!! If we're bought out by TNT we'll be on the same contracts as their staff, minimum wage, less annual leave etc. Sound attractive anyone?

And have you seen the health and safety figures for a non-unionised workplace compared to a unionised one?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

To some enlightened ones :whistle it can't possibly get any worse than now if we are privatised.
So why fight it,FT contracts and 50% pay rises for all after privatisation and the biggest improvement of T&C of all time NO MORE LAPSING, no working all paid hours after privatisation :d'oh! :arrrghhh
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

And under privatisation we will all own at least a 50% stake in the company.
That must count for something.

The last privatisation scheme from Mandelson was hurried and a bit of a surprise and close to the election and Labour would need union support for the election but the Condems don't rely on the unions, they rely on the very people who are likely to buy RM.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Yes ,sorry DV that was more of a general comment rather than a response purely to privatisation , thinking more of the Poll tax, welfare system, social housing,NHS,"land fit for heroes",universal suffrage .
As far as Mandy goes, I think you would be unwise to take any of his actions or utterances at face value. In all likelihood his pursuit of privatisation was more than likely a means to a very different end, I would not be too surprised if he did not achieve exactly the result he wanted with the 'defeat'.
Funny thing is ,where Mandy and new liebour were slowly sucking us dry while smiling and being our best chums, these conocrats are like a heard of bulls. So clunky and hamfisted they seem to have forgotten that RM is already 30% private if not more :chuckle

It makes you wonder though if TNT or DHL or whoever bought RM - would they allow the others to have the same access and at the same price........... I'd better my bottom dollar there would be enormous changes in the pricing structure and access to the service.
