Say your office is set at 12. At the end of the day you've thrown in your mech mail(walk sequenced), gone and got mail off the roads several times, packets, kill offs, d2d's, packets, redirections all the way to bagged up and ready to go out. Say you were counted in 1200items. Does this mean you should have done all this and ready to go in 100mins?
Or is it just from throwing in to last letter in?
Plus, what happens to these times o you get recalled to do more road sorting to get it pushed through, or waiting for mail to all go through before you can band up?
Rate of 12 per minute is only while on prep. If at frame 10 mins you should be able to prep 120 letters into frame. Total indoor time includes trips between IPS and frame, between locker and frame, between DBF and frame etc. etc.
The indoor workload tool traffic is based on your unit model traffic week and includes an estimate of how much traffic each frame receives - your prep time is based on this.
There is no doubt that the Indoor workload tool is to the advantage of the OPG. Hence some RM managers don't like it.

The problem is IWT only gives you the time to clear down once. If you have two waves of mail or you have to keep going back and forth to get letters, packets, parcels, you lose that time because according to IWT you only do it once.
you should be allowed clear down time as required - after each wave arrival for example. Logically you cannot only have one clear down since you could not carry all letters, flats and packet drop bags at one time. As Managers keep quoting to me a reasonable approach should be taken.
I don't want to sound like a cheer leader for the IWT - it's not perfect but is much much better that the discredited capacity plan so beloved of West Coast jobsworths.

Agree
But i got on the phone to the planner and he said it cant be input or done in IWT, So i got onto ADR and he said he would find out about it for me but still no news and that was 3 wks ago.
Just read through the bumf again and you are right the planner is advised to enter the measured distance for one clear down
"Distances input should be for a single journey between the points shown. If a circular journey is made e.g. clearing down a number of sorting frames and taking the mail to Preparation, the total distance should be measured and half the distance input into the appropriate box."

and if I may be so bold as to suggest as to whether your viewpoint is from the operational end or on the implementation/administrative one.

As I understand it, some Scottish self-starter offices have been told how many hours have to be saved at the start of the revision process and are expected to use an unagreed capacity plan to achieve it, instead of the agreed IWT.
Not going well and not going anywhere are two separate things.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
