That's the problem with this company---they don't think of all the problems these changes will bring about--'twas always thus--that's why they keep experimenting!!!

surely they've thought to see how much mail these vans are taking out some of our businesses that are close to the office get sacks full of mail are they going to send a convoy of hct's to each firm

we are in an industrial estate with another about a mile away
so those 2 duties maybe under 10 miles
if they plan to use those blippers then they will rack up more than 10 miles with all they carry!

now thats a mile out and a mile back

why do you have beaming technology.

Seriously, he is right you are paid by hours not the work you do, if it takes you 20 minutes to walk to your duty, then that has to worked into your duty, as does the walk back. If not then its unpaid work.

Well there was not much information forthcoming from our DOM today as she was keeping very quite on the whole matter. I still cant see how we can lose a van without a major shake up of duties. The most logical solution to losing vans would be pairing up a couple of rurals however this is park and loop territory and should be subject to a full revision and re-sign as per the agreement.
I thought that the whole idea of the modernisation agreement was to take the weight off the posties back with the introduction of more motorised deliveries incorporating van sharing not to reduce them.

Alas it’s back to a typical RM ploy of yes we have the agreement to move the company forward but for now we have not got the money so we need to introduce the cost cutting measures without putting the proper agreed tools in place.

Those who decided not to fight and embrace the new wonderful agreement please take note as you were pre-warned.

Agreed total driven rurals would never work but if you have a small street of cottages for example you could be dropped off with a bag why your mate drives and does the farms.

Are these vans road taxed? if so what a waste of money,by the time they come to use them they will have flat batteries,sticking brakes and god knows what else will be wrong with them.I heard a rumour today that we are only getting to fuel our vans at certain petrol stations from Monday.Has anyone else heard this?

Yes, there is that point of view, but then there is also the one where you may be walking an extra two miles.

There is an electric version but I believe that it will only be used on walks that have steep hills etc.

If you're on the flat then it's all down to 'postie power' and nothing else.
