I know how they feel. Most of the young people around here are incapable of writing anything which isn't in text or of speaking in anything more than Neaderthal grunts. Bloody chavs!

I don't think you should be ridiculing any section of the community on the grounds of their intellectual incapacity. They may be chavs but they are still people and have a right to common decency, dignity and respect. Before you know it, this sort of comment leads to whole sections of communities being ostracised, then politicians ride in and start whipping up hatred against those communities, and before you know it, you have death-camps and mass gonocide.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:I know how they feel. It's got nothing to do with their intellectual capabilities and everything to do with them putting on what they think is a rebellious attitude.Carnoustie wrote:I don't think you should be ridiculing any section of the community on the grounds of their intellectual incapacity. If they are capable, they don't show much sign of it. Not everyone is going to be Oscar Wilde, but why don't they make an effort to converse?Carnoustie wrote:No, you said they were INCAPABLE, not that they were unwilling.

Now if anyone had posted a message on here asking why members of certain communities don't make more of an effort to speak English (after all, they are living in England), you'd immediately pounce on that poster and brand them a card-carrying member of the BNP ! All of the above proves that these kind of issues are not, ahem, as black-and-white as you thinkIWW Fellow Worker wrote:If they are capable, they don't show much sign of it. Would I? As it happens, I think there should be more effort put into encouraging people to speak English if they live in England, or Welsh if they live there. I'm not suggesting they should forget about their culture or religion, or that they should be stopped from coming here, or blaming them for all the ills society has. Actually, there are very few card carrying members of the BNP, the reason being most people who think the BNP have anything to say don't have the bottle to join it. They just don't have the courage of their convictions.Carnoustie wrote:Now if anyone had posted a message on here asking why members of certain communities don't make more of an effort to speak English (after all, they are living in England), you'd immediately pounce on that poster and brand them a card-carrying member of the BNP ! Gone a bit off track here lads - agree to disagree and move on. However, it is one of the most structured and polite arguments I have seen on here.

The only good thing the BNP have done is to highlight the issue of immigration. It was only when they had a couple of very small 'successes' locally that the tories began speaking about it.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:

How does it take "bottle" to fill in a membership form and pay a tenner a month (or whatever it is) to join the BNP?
The reason there aren`t many "card carrying members" is in my view far more simple than about having "the courage of their convictions". It would be because they don`t agree with their policies! Probably the same reason why I would guess the Labour Party membership is falling. I voted Labour last time (god knows why) but I haven`t joined the party because I don`t agree with some of their policies. As has been said elsewhere on here there really isn`t much of a choice out there voting wise.
Before you jump to conclusions, I actually work with agency on a daily basis.
Polish, Algerian, Indian, etc. I spoke to a young bloke yesterday from Saudi Arabia. For a 40 hour week (when he can get it) he takes home £140 which is outrageous. They are just being used by the system in this country. I don`t blame them for wanting a better life. They are just being used as cheap labour and the 'open gates' policy you subscribe to would just multiply the problem.

What multiplies the problem is the fact the system needs a constant pool of unemployed or cheap labour in order to prevent the workers from asking for their rightful rewards. That isn't the fault of anyone coming here. If you look at the earliest days of the factory system, bosses have always looked at ways of getting the most money for the least possible outlay. If it wasn't people arriving here from abroad, it would be home grown workers. I don't subscribe to an 'open gates' policy. I wouldn't have religious upstarts coming here for a start. But ordinary workers arriving here don't bother me at all. There are Poles, Irish and Chinese in my road who all seem more able to live without causing the slightest bother to the neighbours than many of the British.strangler wrote:The only good thing the BNP have done is to highlight the issue of immigration. I`d go along with much of what you say above. We shouldn`t forget there are English agency workers athough in the minority. The miserly rates they are paid are still more than what they can get in their own country thus making it more attractive for them which is why the bosses get away with it.IWW Fellow Worker wrote: What multiplies the problem is the fact the system needs a constant pool of unemployed or cheap labour in order to prevent the workers from asking for their rightful rewards. I don`t doubt what you`re saying for a moment. We`ve got a family from Ghana living next door and we couldn`t ask for nicer neighbours.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:

All I would add is I`m sure there are people living in certain areas who would argue the exact opposite. I suppose it`s down to personal experience.
