Depends what factory doesn't it. Screwing nuts onto bolts or packing chisels (2 of the jobs I saw at the jobcentre years ago) for 8 hours a day doesn't really sound appealing.creedscat wrote:You ever worked in a factory??? I have, the crack with the lads was bang on, no backstabbing or working complete c**ts. Plus the money was alot better, also you had the choice if you wanted to work saturdays.
I never lasted longer than 8 days in a job before I started at RM, and I still love it just as much now. It's easy work compared to a lot of people I know who leave the house at 7am and get home at 7pm with a long commute through rush hour traffic. And no, they don't all earn a lot more money!

No , I got your point and agree fully.hampshireman wrote:You miss my point.BELIAL wrote:I guess you refused all pay rises that your fellow union member workers fought and paid for. Or are you just one of the freeloading parasite's who let others fight their corner and then pocket all the gains?hampshireman wrote:...
I am not a Union Member.
we are own worst enemies.
We moan that 'some people are not doing their extra'
We are our own worst enemy.
The basis is the refusal to accept that job and finish is no more. The refusal to accept that hours have to be worked. This blindness gives RM Management carte blanche to load up more and more work.
I use the word 'we' as it was better in this context as the word 'i' would not apply.
And don't assume that I am a freeloading parasite or call me such. As you don't know me.
I'm assuming nothing ,it was a question . However you do state you are not a union member and have yet to clarify wether or not you refuse to accept any changes to your terms and conditions that have been negotiated by the union. If you put nothing in to the struggle in terms of subs or solidarity but are wiling to accept the benefits that are won then the term freeloading parasite is simply a statement of fact. Not nice I admit but the situation is of your choosing

I think it's far more likley, that they're so out of touch with the day to day realities of being a Postie. That they actually thought they HAD got a good deal. And we were further let down by the majority who voted for it. I wonder how few of them still think they made the right decision?
Methinks they didn't read it properly (again!).....

So if they're so out of date with us - shouldn't we be allowed to sue the Union and reclaim our money that we lost by striking.. Cause i've lost out on wages hoping that the Union would make a difference - how wrong was i / us, plus now i'm losing £20 every week.

It was YOU and the 100 odd thousand who got the £400 once the deal was in!PostieWithTheMostie! wrote: Somebody in the Union must've got a nice little back~hander to accept this 2010 Agreement.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Tbf DV,it's in the agreement,BUT the pro rata as you know wasn't.
And i know that you are going to next say ,well how many got a copy of the agreement, but we've been there on that one.
But tbf,Dave did mention at the London reps meeting that the agreement was on 'some website' before it officially got published

But tbf to who? the London reps? FFS this man represents over 100,000 communication workers and he mentioned it to the London reps, and no copy to the members and therefore no explanatory notes........................................... and people wonder why people are leaving the union.POSTMAN wrote:Tbf DV,it's in the agreement,BUT the pro rata as you know wasn't.

Re: Okay; we realise it's not the best deal..
Our branch voted NO BUT that went against the grain for all but the local IR Reps who saw the deal and didn't like it, a copy was posted in our office but I couldn't say that was the case in every office. The Area and Div Reps wanted a yes vote - no need to guess why. We asked the Area/Div Reps for a meeting but they refused saying if we had made our mind up there was no point discussing it - everywhere isn't the same you see.POSTMAN wrote:I was actually taking the piss out of Ward lol.dvbuk55 wrote:But tbf to who? the London reps? I would like to see a breakdown Area by Area of those members of the CWU who think they are well represented above local level, how often they see anyone other than their own rep, how much information is passed down to local level.

Just a little point on this POSTMAN, this business is owned by the Government, so effectively this is our business. As a business they have a right 'within reason' to do what they want with THEIR business, just like you would with YOUR business.
