Pinky is correct, the van driver signs for the van of which 2 keys are made available.

Then i would suggest that whoever signs for the van would be ultimately responsible for it's security regardless of how many keys are signed out.Pat Ostman wrote:Pinky is correct, the van driver signs for the van of which 2 keys are made available.

Captain POSTMAN: I certainly am, sir. I didn't realise we had any battle plans.
General Slocombe: Well, of course we have! How else do you think the CWU battles are directed?
Captain POSTMAN: Our battles are directed, sir?
General Slocombe: Well, of course they are, POSTMAN, directed according to the Grand Plan.
Captain POSTMAN: Would that be the plan to continue with total exhaustion until everyone's dead except Field Marshal Billy Hayes, Lady Hayes and their tortoise, Ward?
General Slocombe: Great Scott! Even you know it!

Re: Van Share!.
Right you are there are two sets of keys issued to the driver of the vehicle who then hands a set to his navigator who will use them to shelter take a break store his bags, etc - but only the signatory is responsible for that vehicle for all matters of security, health and safety, speeding, parking et al.Pat Ostman wrote:Pinky is correct, the van driver signs for the van of which 2 keys are made available.

Does the non-driver get trained in the use of keys? And if he doesn't want to use those keys, what then?

Re: Van Share!.
and thats a good idea lets have them both responsible for the van
so who gets the parking fines and speeding tickets ? because the law says if you have a set of keys then your in charge of that vehicle so in reality the non driver has to be tea total otherwise he could be nicked for driving whilst under the influence (if he or she has an inclination for a tipple) even just sitting in the van waiting for his buddy many have fallen foul of the law whov'e gone into the back of a car to sleep it off

Re: Van Share!.
How are they going to get people to drive these vans anyway?
There was nothing in my contract about having to drive vans! My Driving licence was paid for by me for my personal use, I don`t want the extra responsibility of these vans(especially as they will not pay us to drive)

Re: Van Share!.
Its easy to get this thrown out.
Everyone in your office comes together and decides not to volunteer to drive. Refuse to take part in the preference exercise.
They cant force you to drive and if they dont know if you can or not what can they say? They have no right to know if you hold a license.
My office is so pissed off with this crappy agreement its already planning to boycott this crap.
Lets see CDV's get rolled out then eh?
Now if RM paid for my lessons/tests that might change my mind....

This could be construed as unofficial industrial action
It's the "Everyone in your office comes together and decides" part that's tricky.

Re: Van Share!.
How about a jet pack each does that need a driving licence
A set of roller skates do they need a driving licence
What's the problem with sharing/driving a van it gets rid of weight on delivery(apparantly)and gets rid of pcod all things that people constantly moan about
I am sure some people just moan for moaning sake.
