The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: £400 lump sum--how will you spend it?
1/painkillers to deal with new bag weights
2/Antidepressants to help me get throught the day, doing a naff job that apparently I am lucky to have during such hard times.
3/Earplugs So I dont have to listen to the people who voted yes to the crap deal moaning about how crap their job is now.
4/Electric shredder to attach to my letter box, ready for hundreds of leaflets coming through my door.
5/ Beware of shredder sign Dont want my postie mates puttin their fingers through the door.
6/Hair dye To cover up the grey bits that are goin to tenfold.
7/face cream to try to shift the bags under my eyes which are going to get bigger.
8/Giant alarm clock to wake me from the dead, ready for another not very early finish.
9/Lottery Tickets If there is any money left, to get me the feck out of the job.
oh damn it. The missus has just been in and spotted the fact im getting an extra £400. That will be that gone then. So much for getting all the above luxury items.

Re: £400 lump sum--how will you spend it?
It will affect your gross pay. so it will affect your tax credits and benefit. keep your overtime down. try not to earn more this year than you did the previous year. Otherwise you will only lose out the following year. This happened to me. The more work you do to help yourself and your family the more they take out of the other hand from your credits/benefits. That is why Britain is up the creek without a paddle. The less you do........the more you get. Stupid bloody system. It is a shame the CWU did not take this into consideration with so many postmen/postwomen with young families in royal mail. I remember it was not that long ago that the CWU were against lump sums. The CWU always used to fight for guaranteed better basic pay. The D2D payment is now a supplement so this will probably get taken away as did the early shift allowance. The pay rises are not guaranteed either...... Hope i am wrong about the pay rises, but from previous experienceRainbow wrote:anyone got any idea how this money affects tax credits / housing benifit?. its a one off bonus payment so it would be unfair to count it as earnings.
I find it hard to trust royal mail management to honour their agreements. Hope this helps you.

Think they did take it into consideration, now you have to work later Saturdays you won't have the energy to take the kids out thus saving money

i wish i could find a easier job who pays £8 odd a hour for 25 hour.el_cartero wrote:lol im serious tho
why do i want this job
my walk is tottaly insane , i am exhausted every night
it was bearable when i was getting that little bit extra from d2d could nearly make my pay close to 170 ( woo hooooo )
but im sure i can do better than a 130 pound job 5 days a week that inclused working satarday (up at 6am on sat) early in bed on fri for it...
working here part time feels full time because the walks are so dam big u dont get finished till 2 or 3
what an experience ive had tho lol
pure hell
theres nothing much out there at least this keeps us out in the air and fit lol
