GPO Spring-balance markings

Post by Sir prised »

Hi

I've just bought an old GPO spring-balance.

On the right-hand side the scale is in pounds 1 to 11 lbs

The left-hand scale is labelled 'D'

On this scale a

3 = 1lb
4 = 2lbs
5 = 3lbs
6 = 4lbs
6 = 5lbs
7 = 6lbs
7 = 7lbs
8 = 8lbs
9 = 9lbs
10 = 10lbs
11 = 11lbs

What are these D units referring to ?

Thanks
Sir P
