LEAVING THE UNION.......................THIS WAY LADS...

Post by capricorn »

Thats it, I can see no reason to support a union that is not going to protect me or the job.
If this is the best "Fat cat Billy" can do he will be suited to joining all the the slimy toads in Westminster.
£12 a month better off, it would take over £12 a week to even approach break-even point on this deal.
I just hope there is a good EVR package waiting in the wings.

i'm hoping there are some decent EVR provisions cos there's simply no way i can work the hours that are going to be asked of me.

luckily my wife works for a company that actually cares for it's employees, pays well and just gave her a good raise out of the blue (nearly 8% fwiw) as well as having a fair bonus scheme so we could afford me to take a package and go.

Yes Shimmy.. I used to take issue with a lot of the shite that goes on at RM - but now I just let it flow over my head.

I come in on my time, never use a Car, leave the office at 10 regardless of mail volumes, work my hours and get off home. If there is too much on, I drop a bag.
That's it for me.. no subs, no issues... plain and simple. Whatever issues others have, I don't get involved.

This is a sad day for the CWU for which ever way i look at it i feel they have SOLD OUT.

We told them we did not want to deliver D2D every day of the week and we made it clear that we certainly did not want to work to 2pm on a Sat. It appears they simply gave up and took what was on the table without trying to address these issues and offer us another choice. (And yes there is ALWAYS another choice)

At the moment I cannot see anything positive out of the deal which out weighs the negative side. To me it looks like another step towards privatisation and minimum wages for all.

I am going to stick paying the Union not because I think they have succeeded in achieving the best deal possible but I can foresee my level of sickness increasing with the longer delivery span and I am most likely going to need the back up of a local rep when I attend my stage warnings.

CWU. :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no :no no
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

You've got ten people, you offer six of them a rise by taking money away from the remaining four, you get them all to vote on it and guess what? 60% to 40% maybe!

I understand why people voted yes,but for those of you who did, please don't try to tell us we've got a good deal or that the result of the vote is "fair"!

If you believe that everyone just voted on the issue of money, then you have a very small opinion of human nature.

Oh sorry, yes i did presume they voted for it because of the money. What other reasons were there, was it the longer Saturdays or the unspecified delivery spans ?
Job security, attendance patterns with more days off (not everyone is bothered about saturdays, a bit longer saturday for an extra day off my suit some).
Workshops assessing workloads.
Change by agreement.
Weight off the shoulder.
I suppose there are more but there you go.....

Oh come now, you're already scraping the bottom of the barrel with your "workshops assessing workloads" and "change by agreement"! It's Walter Mitty stuff i'm afraid, mere talking shops for the hard of thinking. Do you really think that's why people voted yes? :left:

"Weight off the shoulder"? I can't see how agreeing to unlimited d2d provides that :hmmmm ,or are you pinning your hopes on the inefficient, cost soaring, farcical concept of van sharing to provide it?

Your trump card i guess is "job security",announced with no reasoning or explanation to back it up,it's like just saying the words beats all arguments. I can't see any reason this agreement provides any more than we had before!

The fact is, whatever the negative aspects of the agreement are, it is a plan. It is a way of moving forward for all and dealing with the reality of DSA and liberalization. Is your plan to go on strike until the government outlaws DSA? Do you think that the status quo is tenable? Do you want RM to turn back to the working practices of ten years ago?
The fact is that RM has to turn a healthy profit to remain viable. DSA etc.. is being used to beat RM down so that they are forced to modernize working practices in line with most modern companies.
The other option would be for RM to slash wages, but this would not be helping RM to become a modern company using machinery and all resources to their fullest.
It surely is about looking at the bigger picture here. If other industries had not gone through modernization programmes, the economy would not be able to support the wage levels that exist now across the board for all workers, which we as well enjoy.
