I agree, the political will does not exist. Unlikely to either.

If Saturdays were to go, RML would still shut down MC's as they belive they have more than they need, which was a outcome of the Hooper report.

Longer Sat working will cause problems for many and is not wanted by most of the workforce. The soloution I see is 10 hour shifts Tues -Fri ,for as many people who want it as possible and 20hour contracts 2 days a week Sat and Mon for part time staff to cover the days off of full time staff.
Could never work as that would mean at least 50/50 FT/PT ratio.
Also, as pointed out, a lot of part timers cannot work 10 hour shifts, due to child care, or whatever reasons, that's why they work part time. If they could, they already would.Yes, I accept that some would prefer longer shifts but I would expect most would not.

Beg your pardon, But that is in the "lets get real" agreement. Do I detect a wee bit of management backsliding?

I just got the RM jargan...He's ok to watch the footy though as he don't work Saturdays.. :confused

Our office were told today as from a week next Saturday we are to start 30 mins later (only the Sat). It seems RM can pick and choose which parts of the agreement to implement, so far I have seen nothing to benefit us workers.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Was that with full consultation and agreement, with mutual respect and a new understanding ? :angel or just the usual?

Sounds like the usual pushing certain offices around DV! I cannot for the life of me understand why HQ allow this to happen? If offices are "weak",pinpoint them and get someone down there!

The are people down there drb, the Area and Div Reps should know their own "patch" and should specifically target those areas for support don't you think?
HQ probably are being told a load of codswallop by those Reps who couldn't give a toss except for their own release time.

I think there must be a certain amount of hiding the truth dvb.
No Area Rep wants to stand up in front of his peers and admit his/her patch is weak or even worse that he/she is not fit for office and therefore may end up back.....at work. ...and i suppose that could even happen at divisional level. :nervous

Divisonal reps meeting tomorrow so should find out what is happening around the UK.

However in London at the moment no revisons are close to coming in and no one is suggusting a later start in the walk sequencing sites as work is available by 0500 even on a Saturday. Remember the agreement states that the vast majority should be finished by 2 .30 with most by 2.

Should isn't an absolute Dingo it is an approximation which is fine for some and not for others - you know the old scenario - in over 20 years I have never seen a Div Rep nor the minutes of any liaison meeting - so anything from the Div Reps meeting should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Well if it's a case of egos, this is terrible. We cannot keep saying to the management and members "you have to change" when we as reps won't either. I see people like Dingo and solid people are on this site in their own time,(I am on leave too),trying to help.

I think the branch "model" system has to change. If it means getting rid of "dead wood"..so be it. For example, sites such as this, although we don't know the FULL story in some offices to be fair, could be the way to go.
The area rep would talk to his reps once a week via MSN/Skype,the same would apply to his divisional. The next week there would be what action was taken in regards to that area,or why nothing was happening etc.
Commitees in every office knowing what was happening every week in their office from the local rep would be a massive way of overcoming the shortfalls of communication and would go in some way to minimising the costs of every branch. In my opinion any expenditure of ANY sort should be prioritised for the LOCAL REPS first.

Offices without reps could be covered by the surrounding offices who do have reps. This is a must! It goes with the territory, accept it....
