Ash Cloud Delay?
Hi,
I'm having problems receiving my post. The last time I had post delivered was Friday morning then after that other people on my road got post but I had received none. My issue is that I was expecting a small parcel to be delivered (it was dispatched Wednesday 1:35pm 2nd Class from with-in the UK) and i'm just wondering if it has been delayed because of the ash cloud ? I've been trying to find my Local Delivery Office and the Royal Mail website suggested calling the helpline, after half an hour later listening to the automated answer machine I received no information.
My question is, has my post been delayed because of it ? and where can I phone someone who is an actual person to help. I am worried that the package is lost and I can't really wait for it (I would have to wait 15 days to declare it has been lost, then another 2 weeks for my claim to be processed)
Thanks for any help in advance.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If its from Play.com or Tesco Jersey for instance then it will have been delayed by the Ash Cloud as all flights will have been grounded - although those companies may be trying to get it over on the ferries.Jas1222 wrote:It was posted to me by a online retailer, they use a variety of warehouses with-in the UK. Re: Ash Cloud Delay?
The parcels and packets have been normal up until today when virtually nothing has arrived in the office, maybe the MCs are concentrating on the mail to despatch it earlier by road/rail and the packets have been 'streamed'.

Re: Ash Cloud Delay?
Main concern is that if my post starts arriving again, and the package isn't there then it would most likely be lost.

You'll need to give it 28 days before RM declare it lost.Jas1222 wrote:Main concern is that if my post starts arriving again, and the package isn't there then it would most likely be lost.

It says minimum wait is 15 days?
Wonder if I could just check if my package is there with my post but have no contact information for anywhere.

On the site if it says if an item is lost to 'Fill in a Royal Mail' claim form.

Their Distribution centre is in Basingstoke so there should be very little if any delay at all.
Also your local delivery office is unlikely to have it as they should operate a clear office policy. Packet post is normally 3 to 5 day service so hopefully it may turn up tomorrow.Closure of UK airspace
Please be aware the closure of UK airspace and airspace in parts of Europe unfortunately continues to affect the transport of mail by air and could cause delays with delivery of orders. This is impacting upon some UK domestic mail and mail due to either leave or enter the country via UK airports.
I hope is does turn up it sounds important to you.

Yes they do,the reason you don't recall delivering them is simple...unlike Play, com they don't brand the packet.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
