I do not agree with you and again you have misunderstood my posting.

The weekly workload does not change we would still be doing 30 hours, just over 4 days rather than 5 days, sounds very simple concept to me.

Yes the 4 days would be a bigger daily workload, thats obvious to anyone. 7.5 hour day and not a 6 hour day will see more work but that fifth day when im not at work anymore would counter act the extra work :Applause :Very Happy :dance .

The weekly workload is compressed not increased.
Yes Daz but the daily workload IS increased and for full-timers by 2 hrs.
Not all your FT members may be fit to complete a 10 hr day four days in a row. :hmmmm
As you are well aware Daz most members do not think in terms of weekly workload.
Too many reps on here are wetting themselves at the prospect of a 4 day week without fully understanding what it involves.
What time does your mail arrive Daz,What time will it arrive in future?

What time will a 10hr day have to start and what time will it finish?

Last van arrives at 0630.

What time will mail arrive, in future, no idea not been given that info yet if indded any one in the upper echlons of RML/CWU has worked that out for my area. However local management expect us to be within the 7am start. Revison work will sort start times out and I hope that I can go the mbrs and say and prove that the new start time is the earliest viable/possible time.

Ive made my mbrs very much aware that a 4 day week is a longer day, they all get that very clearly and ive made them aware that outdoor work will be involved in that extened period. They get it, I get it very simple, more work on a daily basis is not in dispute, i trust I have made that clear enough for you this time?

I dont think many mbrs at my D.O will go for a 4 day week, so far ive had mbrs telling me they wish to stick to 5 day week fixed day off.

Oh I stopped wetting myself around 33 years ago.

For the record those who decide to move from a 5 day week to a 4 day week will be working an extra 1 hour 50 mins work on the four days they are working as a 10 hour day attracts a 50 minute meal relief whereas a 8 hour day attracts a 40 minute break.

The plus side is that you have two days off per week and a long weekend every three weeks where you have Friday Saturday Monday and Tuesday off in a row.

Its normally hard to convince people to move to better attandances thats why it took the union years to move to a 5 day week but I have yet to meet members who once they have 4 day weeks would not fight to keep them.

Its your choice there are other options regarding improved attendances which have only 8.30 half days or 8 .45 days but they dont attract as many days off then the 4 day week.

I hope we do get a say, because we've already been told that we will be staying on a 5 day week.

We have also been told that the more saturdays off is just an aspiration but won't be happening in our office

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Again this comes down to the words of the agreement vs the spirit of the agreement.
It is plain that the spirit of the agreement is that everyone SHOULD be offered at least the opportunity of 1 in 4 however the words state.
Royal Mail and CWU commit to achieving at least 1 in 4 Saturdays off for the majority of employees (including reserves) during the roll out of the operational transformation programme
Unfortunately we are only voting on the words, the spirit may or may not be there.

Show them the agreement.Ask them if they will honour it.If not..get your area rep on it ASAP.That is the proper procedure. He then gives it to divisional. Both will over see your revision anyway.

"misinformed by DOM" doesn't bode well for the future,it always astounds me that i can find a rich vein of info on here that my managers have'nt a clue about,i still can't get my head around that the management are going to embrace us into the new way forward,a very large difference in their attitude would have to be made, which i cannot see, getting the georoute sorted out again, why bother,it'll be a con, lapsing, pkts after doing your own duty, has this been factored in after doing your own extended duty,an extended delivery time could result in more stresses to my body that is already knackered,i've been asking these and more but getting no answers

dingo wrote:The following options are included in them

1. 2 in 6 Saturday`s off in a rotating day off system with a short day on tuesday. The hours per day apart from Tuesday are 8.30

2. 2 in 6 saturday`s off in wallington system ( 1 week off in 6. ) 48.30 working week.

3. Wallington plus 1 week off in six with a short week as well.

4. 2 rotating full time 4 and half day duties with fixed part time cover ( saturday plus monday ) one in every two saturdays and monday off. 8.30 hour day.

5. 2 in in 6 1 in 3 saturdays off in 5 day rotating day off system. 8.5 hour days.

6. 4 day weeks on 3 week week rotation covering two deliveries all full time duties. 10 hour day.

7. 4 day duty doing extra prep of part time duties has 1 in 3 saturdays off. ( 10 hour days )

8. 9 day fortnight option 6 plus 3. This option allows for one in four saturdays off but every 4 weeks you get Thursday , Friday , Saturday , Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday off in a row. 8 hour 45 day.

9, 9 day fortnight option 5 plus 4. this option gives you one in three saturdays off. Once every 4 weeks you get Friday , Saturday and monday off in a row. 8.45 hour days.

So the menu will explain this options and of course your divisonal and area rep will assist.
Cheers for the info Dingo......I know this might be a chore but is there any chance that you could post what the delivery spans would be for these options??

Of course he can't, there is no delivery span set - it will be down to local negotiation. This is new ground!

Will the one in four saturdays off be the same for the reserves and floaters? How does that fit in with a 39 hour week that is proposed?

well i think someone needs to start informing these doms because we had a little meeting this morning where we were told that the office revision due july/august will determine what shift pattern our whole office is on. many of us protested and his answer was simple. operationally its too difficult to manage the DO with everybody on different shift patterns like it is now and he was pretty adamant what he says goes. we would have called the area rep in but last time we did he agreed to merging sa's with our walks even tho there was a no savings ban on so we thought better of it.

i know he's talking rubbish as did many others at the meeting but that's not really the point is it. we're being told one thing by one group and something totally different by the other so just who is right?
