appreciate your union and vote for Labour.

Sorry at this point in time I believe, though am willing to be convinced otherwise, that the Green Party's brand of Socialism is more to my taste that the "CityBank Socialism" that Labour promote.

"You are kidding, right? Both have done their best to kick postal workers where it hurts, and succeeded, and you want me to appreciate one, and vote for the other???
You're off you're head!!!"

i think you'll find Royal Mail are doing "their best to kick postal workers where it hurts" . the CWU is doing its best against better funded and aggresive opposition. i agree there are faults in the cwu -as in any union. but the premise they hold.ie looking out for members interests remains. in contrast : RM strategy is to weaken your standing at every given opportunity.
how about directing some of your hate toward your employer and not a union who is there to support?

i agree -the green party hold many of my values. but if you live in a marginal seat ,then voting anything but labour would be futile.

My hate is directed equally to two bodies that should be independent of one another, but quite clearly aren't.
1. My employer, the Royal Mail, a company that gives slave-drivers and slave-driving, a bad name.

2. My union, the CWU, who have yet again, made all the money I lost through striking, all the days I got out of my pit at the crack of a Jackdaw's fart to go on, and spend 5 hrs on, a picket line, in rain, in wind, and occasionally, in shine, have yet again, made all that time, effort, and expense, a complete waste of all three. Yet again, I may, depending on how the vote goes, end up worse off than before I went on strike.
No limits on delivery spans, not something I'd ever strike for.
No cap on amount of junk mail I'm expected to deliver during a week, not something I'd ever strike for.
To end up earning even less for delivering unlimited amounts of junk mail, not something I'd ever strike for.
To have the one bright spot of a long, hard, week in this shytehole, a short Saturday, turned into a "normal working day", not something I'd ever strike for.
A deal, which on the whole, just looks like the ill-thought out, ill conceived, 2007 Pay & Modernisation bollox, a charter for more management bullying and harassment, not something I'd ever strike for.
And a whole lot more vagaries contained within the "deal of the century", something I'd never strike for.

And yet, I've possibly ended up with having all of the above foisted on me.

I think I've a right to feel hatred to both arms of the same monster, don't you? :evil/mad

@dirty harry
i feel we both have the same grievances, but as i see with so many of my fellow work colleagues your rage is disproportionate.
your last post gave one line against the enemy as i see it- Royal Mail management . the majority of your argument was aimed at our allie-the CWU.
what have you done to protest to RM? try writing to your local MP(which i have done). try getting in touch with RM higher end management.
direct your well placed outrage at the right people please

To have an employer that continually wants to shaft me, that's to be expected, and confronted.
To have an "ally" that seems to aid and abet the said employer, amounts to betrayal, and as such, is naturally more infuriating.
That's why my rage seems disproportionate to you.
And as to what I did in order to protest to RM, I took part in the most effective form of protest open to ordinary working people, I withdrew my labour, only for my efforts to be hijacked by CWU HQ, and then subverted.
I therefore, believe I do direct my anger to the right people.

fair enough mate .
i do feel you underestimate how hard the Union has it though . the last strike was simply to get RM to just talk to us ! that's how uneven this battle is.

If everyone spoilt their ballot paper .......what would happen.............because spoilt ballot papers have to be counted, and are taken as a "none of the above" statement

how long have tnt etc been downstreaming? many (maybe all) government bodies inc the NHS ,TV licence now use the cheaper option.
perhaps ask why royal mail can't compete in this market .
the universal service obligation is a great thing - but why can our competitors exploit this advantage?
wake up postcom
There is a review going on from postcomm, but it wont be as good as the one that we would have had with offcom. Labour put the regulation of postal services transfer to offcom on hold, thats how intrested Labour are in helping us.

With just a slight variation on the words, the three main political parties all sing from the same hymn sheet.
I'm voting for the Greens.

I would have to disagree there , with particular reference to Vince Cable's declaration on R4 that public sector workers should NOT BE ALLOWED TO STRIKE
