Re: glasgow meeting
Question is what recommendation will the Glasgow & District Amal Branch now make to their respective Branch members?
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

I agree, but not everyone is comfortable speaking up in front of a lot of people. I often come out of meetings with people debating with each other, why this, why that, but they hadn't said anything at the meeting. That's why we need decent reps. Someone to talk to one on one, or in a small group. who we can rely on to put our points forward, and ask our questions.lovejoy wrote: Did you express your opinion about the holes in the arguments?
EDIT: Just to add I think the Internet plays a massive part in sharing info and uniting us, along side 'real' debate.

Yet no full time jobs will be created. Furthermore, there is still the issue of pro rata payment.joeboy wrote: d2d into workload saves f/t jobs

Dont undertand why it saves FT jobs. We were doing it in their time anyway.postghost wrote:Yet no full time jobs will be created. Furthermore, there is still the issue of pro rata payment.joeboy wrote: d2d into workload saves f/t jobs
Oh hang on. Is it cause RM pockets 600 Million quid by not paying us to do them? Yea that might be it...

Maybe this shows that rather than sit on here alongside people (99% probably haven't even read the agreement) moaning, units need to set up members meetings.belle smith wrote:West of Scotland....it was all of Scotland.stevie247 wrote: I am totally gobsmackedby this only one desenting voice from every rep in the west of scotland WTF This is another vague agreement open to interpretation and a pay cut for the majority of delivery posties with below inflation pay increases all paid for by money we all ready earned through colleague share scheme. How do you sell this to the part timer that will lose 20 pound a week or the full timer who is down 10 pound by saying trust us trust them....NO i don't and yes i will vote NO.
I heard the applause for the officers today was huge - this isn't because local reps are lunatics, its because they understand and support the logic behind some of the decisions that have been made!

Fair enough, but that doesn't justify the illogical in this agreement.lovejoy wrote:belle smith wrote:stevie247 wrote: its because they understand and support the logic behind some of the decisions that have been made!

Odd that the CWU weren't in favour off all these things before, when RM were first proposing them, if they are so logical.lovejoy wrote: Maybe this shows that rather than sit on here alongside people (99% probably haven't even read the agreement) moaning, units need to set up members meetings.

ps. i note the caveat about 'some' of the decisions.
