Re: N. Lancs and Cumbria Branch recommend 'no'!
I was at Manchester today (so i hope that dispels some views that i am a manager)
But i will tell you this, on D2D which is the big swaying point on this agreement because of the monetary issue's, what we were told today was that D2D as they we know them are unsustainable, RM will lose contracts or withdraw them from certain regions, I know that some member would like this but would they be as jubliant when there receiving none, would the £20.60 payment seem like a good thing then after the boat had sailed?
I don't know what the thinking behind this branches recomendation is, but if they like the prospect of compulsary redundancies or a part time work force in the future then i cannot understand there logic.
if they were at Manchester i find it hard to believe they would recommend suicide.

If you vote with your conscience, there is only one way to vote.
Who seriously thinks it is acceptable for one set of human beings to decide that another group should have their pay and conditions worsened?
The German people repeatedly voted in the Nazis because the majority's standard of living rose on the backs of a suffering minority.

D2D are not going to disappear, but RM's share is getting less and less.

I would personally like to thank our North Western brothers and sisters for their recommendation.
Some nasty people will say how dare they after CWU HQ raodshow.
But it shows that serious activists/reps have thought long and hard about the ramifications of the deal and how it seriously affects a significant portion of the workforce.
Bless you all.

Good show to delivery reps from NL&C. No doubt the self interested reps from distribution did not share your views.

Regrettably Lovejoy is right on this one - During the ballot for the last agreement I heard someone ask our Rep "What does the Branch recommend" He being truthful said "Yes to accept although ......" and the bloke asking interrupted and said "Thats good enough for me" and walked offlovejoy wrote:History shows it makes a huge difference. The likes of you and I will think / judge for ourselves but a very large % of members will go with branch recommendations. Previous agreements / elections support this.taxi4leighton wrote:does it really matter what various branches recommend?

Yes it will probably go on Branch recommendations.
The people on this site are more aware of the arguments and details of the proposed agreement,
but most CWU members, unfortunately, will not read (or understand due to the terminology used)
the agreement in full, and will go on Branch/rep's advice - and the propaganda that will be coming
from both the CWU and RM.
